Cuando
Tom Pulse Lyrics

Cuando floresca el chuño
Cuando floresca el chuño
Si tus padres ya me odian
Es po mi mala culpa
Si las citoyas no silban
Es por tu gran ausencia
Dicen que vuelves volveras
Como el rio que se va al lago
Dicen que vuelves volveras
Como el rio que se va al lago
Jumampi nayampi
Cuando florezca el chuño
K'awan nok'awan
Cuando floresca el chuño
Si tus padres ya me odian
Es po mi mala culpa
Si las citoyas no silban
Es por tu gran ausencia
Dicen que vuelves volveras
Como el rio que se va al lago
Dicen que vuelves volveras
Como el rio que se va al lago
Jumampi nayampi
Cuando florezca el chuño
K'awan nok'awan
Cuando floresca el chuño

Cuando florezca el chuño

Cuando floresca el chuño
(Cuando floresca el chuño)
No digas que has olvidado
La tierra donde naciste

Como el ria que se va al lago
(Dicen que vuelve volveras)

Si tus padres ya me odian

Overall Meaning

The song "Cuando Floresca El Chuño" by Tom Pulse is about lost love and the hope of rekindling a relationship that has been broken. The lyrics talk about the idea that despite the difficulties and misunderstandings that may have caused the separation, there is still a chance for things to work out in the future, perhaps when the "chuño" (a type of potato) flowers. The first stanza acknowledges that the singer's partner's parents dislike them, and they take responsibility for their mistakes. The second stanza talks about the absence of the partner and how it affects everything around them, including the absence of the sound of the "citoyas" (a type of flute). The chorus then repeats the idea that the partner may return, using the metaphor of a river flowing back into a lake when it is said that "they say you'll come back like a river flowing to the lake." The last stanza implores the partner not to forget where they came from and where they were born.
