Under The Boardwalk

And burns the tar on the roof
And your shoes get so hot
You wish your tired feet were fireproof
Under the Boardwalk
Down by the sea
On a blanket with my boyfriend's where I'll be
Under the Boardwalk, out of the sun
Under the Boardwalk, we'll be having some fun
Under the Boardwalk, people walking above
Under the Boardwalk, we'll be making love
Under the Boardwalk, Boardwalk
From the park you hear the happy sound
Of the carousel
You can almost taste the hot dogs
And french fries they sell
Under the Boardwalk
Down by the sea
On a blanket with my boyfriend's where I'll be
Under the Boardwalk, out of the sun
Under the Boardwalk, we'll be having some fun
Under the Boardwalk, people walking above
Under the Boardwalk, we'll be making love
Under the Boardwalk, Boardwalk
Under the Boardwalk
Down by the sea
On a blanket with my boyfriend's where I'll be
Under the Boardwalk, out of the sun
Under the Boardwalk, we'll be having some fun
Under the Boardwalk, people walking above
Under the Boardwalk, we'll be falling in love
Under the Boardwalk, Boardwalk
Boardwalk, Boardwalk
"Under the Boardwalk" by Tom Tom Club is a cover of the famous song of the same name by The Drifters. The song is a celebration of the joys of summertime, particularly of spending time with that special someone in a romantic setting. The first verse sets the scene of a hot summer day where the sun is burning hot and your shoes feel like they could melt from the heat. However, the song then shifts to a more positive setting under the boardwalk, where the couple can escape the sun and enjoy themselves in a more comfortable and intimate environment on a blanket. The song also references the sounds of the carousel and the delicious smells of hot dogs and french fries, adding to the carefree atmosphere of summer.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Under the Boardwalk", emphasizing the importance of the location to the couple's romantic endeavors. The second verse continues to highlight the fun and carefree setting of the boardwalk, with people walking above but the focus being on the romance happening below. The bridge of the song changes the lyrics to "we'll be falling in love", adding to the emotional depth of the song.

Miles upon miles of sand and wine rows, 17th century windmills and Great Gatsby mansions, visionary art and picture-perfect towns; Long Island is more than just a destination, it’s home to some of the greatest chapters in U.S. history.
Special thanks to Discover Long Island for their support on this video!
Their keen eyed team (Jamie in particular) did point out a minor factual error at 05.35 "head further west to discover...". We got that one wrong and it's meant to read "head further east to discover...".
We are always trying to keep our team on our toes and we thank anyone who helps us get the facts straight.

I grew up on Long Island and I currently live in Cape Cod. There are so many similarities. The beaches along the Atlantic Coastline , the salt marshes ,the flora and fauna are very similar in both Long Island and Cape Cod. Long Island has more commercial development. I appreciate the education I received in the Three Village School District. I appreciate the safe neighborhoods and the quiet and peaceful times with nature.
