escarabajo
Tomates Fritos Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Enséñame a mentir
Para así engañarte alguna vez
No sé diferenciar
In the song "Escarabajo," Tomates Fritos explores the theme of honesty and communication in a relationship. The first stanza depicts a lover who is tired of hearing promises of change from the singer. The singer tries to defend himself by saying that he hasn't learned to speak the truth yet, even though he insists that he isn't lying. However, his loved one is still doubtful, having been disappointed by his behavior in the past.
The chorus of "Escarabajo" speaks to the internal struggle of the singer. He admits that he doesn't know the difference between what's right and wrong, and asks his partner to teach him how to lie so that he can fool her once in a while. This perception of lying as a necessary evil in relationships is a powerful commentary on how our society often accepts deceit as an unavoidable component of romantic involvement.
The song ends with the singer's friend inquiring about their relationship, but there is no deep connection between the two besides a one-night stand. By the end of the song, it's clear that the singer's lack of honesty has resulted in the loss of his lover, and he remains unable to express himself truthfully.
