Funnily enough, in real life Stacks' murder was probably the only one that Tommy had expressed real remorse for. While not portrayed in the movie, Stacks had been a close childhood friend of DeSimone. When Paul Vario ordered Tommy to hit Stacks, DeSimone had protested and asked, "Why Me?". So they promised him that he would earn his button if he completed the task.

After Tommy had killed him, he expressed deep regret and said, "Sorry, pal. I hope it didn’t hurt. Sooner or later, I’ll see you in heaven or hell. Wherever you’re going, I’m sure that’s where I’ll be going."

Kind of amazing when you consider the type of guy DeSimone was, a violent psychopath.

I used to think Raging Bull was Marty Scorsese's masterpiece. Now, after a few years of watching hundreds and hundreds of films and re-watching Raging Bull and Goodfellas probably 10 times each, Goodfellas is just remarkable. Those who think that Carbone is an idiot don't understand him at all. He is shit scared of Tommy and knows that it's not wise to go against him no matter what he suggests. Tommy has no sense of humor - not that normal non-psychos understand anyway - and when Spider didn't get his "joke" and joked back he was shot dead. Jimmy Conway says:"What's the matter with you? I was only kidding when I said what's the world comin' to?" Henry Hill is shocked himself.

So Carbone isn't likely to say:"Hey Tommy, you're such a funny guy asking me to bring the coffee with me!" and I believe he saw what happened to Henry when he said:"You're a funny guy Tommy."

Carbone didn't really know when Tommy was joking or when he was serious and therefore assumed he was serious just to be safe. Also, few people are offended by idiots since the jokes are on them, so Carbone preferred to be made fun of in case it was a joke after all rather than laughing and disobeying Tommy's commands and be dead.

Billy Batts was stupid enough to joke with Tommy while everybody's looking. Made man or not, you do not joke with a psycho.

Tommy was always crazy. He was first locked up at eleven and was doing hits for mob bosses when he was sixteen. Hits never bothered Tommy, it was all business. But what he really liked to do, what he really liked to do was shine shoes, I mean he really enjoyed it! He'd walk in the door and everyone who worked the room would go wild. He'd shine the doorman's shoes just for opening the door. He'd whip out his shine box and shine the shoes of the dealers who ran the games. He'd even give a spit shine to the bartender just for keeping the ice cubes cold.

One of my most favourite movies, I love it. However, Tommy puts one in his head and then you hear another 3 shots, but in the slow motion re play, he empties FIVE rounds? Unless he walked back in and started shooting him again? This always bugged me about Scorceses' continuity. I like how Carbone wasn’t told this hit was gonna happen, which is made evident when he looks over at Tommy killing stacks. You never see Tommy touch anything in the apartment, and he has Carbone open the door for him when then enter and leave.

Carbone is found dead in the meat truck a few scenes later, which is something Jimmy would’ve done anyways but I like the idea that stack’s murder is another reason why Jimmy called for carbones death, his prints were all over the crime scene.

I always wondered if the shot at 1:10 was Tommy going back to shoot stacks even more. The only reason why I ask is because you can already see blood on the wall under the painting in this scene after he had killed him. What do you guys think?

As of this role this was the 14th movie Samuel L Jackson had played a part in and honestly he's barely in this movie at all his whole purpose in this film was to get assassinated

Hollywood very clearly saw something special from Jackson which is why he was being given as many roles as he was. Like have you ever seen his "Vice" interview? He seems like a very wholesome man who scored lucky in Hollywood to quote Sam Jackson in that interview
