I have to agree with Matthew on the dark episodes though! My favorite is Sylvia 1 and 2. Most of the Albert-centered episodes and scenes were my favorites. I also adore Sweet Sixteen. I cant get enough of Laura and Almanzo finally falling in love and Laura growing into a woman.

I love the one where Caroline makes Laura and Mary new dresses for their school essay thing they had. Laura was young still and couldn't write as good as Mary but she delivered a knock-out reading. Miss Beadle is amazing at the end.

My favorite is “the richest man in Walnut Grove” when Pa lost his job and everyone worked together. Two best parts are when Half-pint punches Nellie in the nose and when Pa agrees with Mr Olsen that he’s the richest man in Walnut Grove “I know I am” almost crying. 💜 Mary taking the test and losing is my second favorite. When she gets home and everyone still celebrates her 😭🥰.

I found years later that it was an actual event from that time period that inspired that episode. There's a book called "The Children's Blizzard" that tells the story. It's a heartbreaking but fascinating bit of history.

Still one of my favourite series. I have so many favourites: love when Mary meets Adam at the blind school, when Laura is at Almanzo's house after fighting with Nellie and Charles' punches Almanzo thinking something unseemly was taking place, when Charles falls and then cannot finish the order he promised so the whole town moves the grain for him, when Miss Beadle meets her husband, the pig farmer, and Nellie almost marries his son, anything with the Olesons, Nellie hating her restaurant, then meeting Percival. I could go on and on and on. This was my dad's favourite show as well. He's been gone 2 years and I can still remember watching it in the 70s with him.🥰

I just loved Michael Landon's heart. He venerated wholesomeness and preserved its legacy in his shows. I loved the man because of his work. And his friend Victor French who worked with him . That's two wonderful souls and I cherish that.

My favorite epsiode was the the He loves me he loves me not 2 because that's when Nellie meets and falls in love with Percival. Loved how nice she became and laughed hysterically to Mrs. Oleson's reaction to Percival being Jewish.

That’s my favorite as well! I used to rush home from school so I wouldn’t miss it; all of my friends were DEEPLY invested in the Laura & Almanzo/Nellie & Percival love stories. It was our pre-teen version of our mothers’ soap operas! Years later, I also met and married a Jewish man...making that episode even closer to my heart.

As an adult re-watching the series (via Amazon Prime), I am amazed at the character development you see in Houston (the caretaker at the blind school played by Dub Taylor), especially during the scene where the children first arrive and Susan Goodspeed leads them in a prayer of thanksgiving for the new school that’s bringing them all back together again. Watch Houston’s face as he goes from the cantankerous loner he’s been his entire life to finally finding the family he never knew he needed. As a kid I was focused on the love stories in that episode, but as an adult I am deeply moved by how the school—and the Ingalls family—completely changed Houston’s life. You never see it coming, how the grumpy and rude old man who scolds and distrusts Laura in Part 1 becomes the loving and caring old soul who nurses Almanzo back to health in Part 2. If you haven’t seen this one in awhile, I highly recommend giving it another watch.

Plus, the “to be continued” scene at the very end is one of the funniest epilogues on television!

We were blessed as kids of the 70’s & 80’s to be able to grow up watching a family we all wanted to be part of! The Waltons too. Double blessed to be able to watch the reruns everyday on tv still which makes you feel like a kid again. Especially during the crazy covid times!

I'm with you too,the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie are the most loved shows that even today hopefully new comers will turn the channel to watch and love these shows as much as we do,they're the best shows to watch! I pray that they never cancel them off because the shows are very very good to watch,even better than what they've been given to watch today. One of my favorite scenes would be the "song" that was mistaken to be a love letter to Almonzo. But I know there are many favorites,it's just that these shows are just that good though. "Here Come the Brides" is one of my favorites. Well written, great acting (this is nearly a Katherine MacGregor tour de force episode, too) , some very touching scenes & outright hilarity !! The justice of the peace in Sleepy Eye is an absolute hoot, too !! Great episode, even though most of the normal cast is largely not featured. This episode shows the overall depth of the production. Top notch.

My favorite was when Matt played young Charles. He was beat up by some bullies and missed Caroline at the dance. He showed up at her house dirty and bruised and apologized through the door. The way he said “please Caroline” always got to me. When she opened the door and they danced was the best part. I always had a thing for Caroline as an adult but since I was around the young Carolines age when the show was first on TV young Caroline (Katy Kurtzman) was my dream girl

My favorite episode was Remember Me, a two parter starring Patricia Neal, a widow woman who was dying, she asked Charles to help her find homes for her three children. Laura and Charles(Pa) were my favorite characters. Melissa Gilbert was the best child actor I ever saw. I watch LHOTP every day.

Whisper County, was my next favorite, it's the episode where Mary left home to teach school, and an old woman who couldn't even read had the whole town under her spell.

This show was the best. Michael Landon did a great job with it. He was a handsome man. I loved Charles and Caroline 's live for each other.

The secondary cast were awesome as well. I loved, Reverend Alden, Dr Baker, Mr Hanson, Mr. Edwards, Nells, Grace, and miss Beatle. Sorry I didn't like Willie, Nellie, nor Harriet they were too mean. But Harriet was a crack up. She made the show interesting.

I suffered through some horrible depression for many years & hardly ever got out of bed & one day I decided to watch The Waltons that I had bought several years ago but never watched & it was like a healing adventure for me. Every episode I would get further away from my bed & ended up watching in the living room & I can't tell you how blessed I was to be able to watch that show. I watched it twice back to back just bc I loved it so much. Had it not been for The Waltons I don't know where I'd be right now. Amazing show 💜🙏

My very favorite episode was the one in which Mr. Edwards waded in the creek to get to Pa's house on Christmas!!! He brought the children candy canes that Laura quickly bit into!!! This is so awesome. This was my dad's favorite show and me, my bro and sis have so many good memories. Its definitely bittersweet, because my dad passed away extremely young just like Michael Landon. I honestly don't have a favorite episode, because I just love all of them, but if I really had to choose, I'd go for "For the love of Nancy".
This was such a strong story, and I really loved it.

If I recall correctly, there was a latter season episode, or maybe a telemovie sequel, where Nellie and Laura encounter each other after having not seen the other for a few years. They put their dukes up and playfully say: "You wanns fight?" I loved that scene as a kid... even back then, I could appreciate that two rivals had grown past their childish pettiness with a simple laugh, and became friends.

A couple of my favorite were ‘divorce walnut grove style’ when Laura was jealous of a song, and she kept breaking Charles’ window. Also the one where Charles and Almanzo try to beat each other to do a delivery. Almanzo takes the hill route and a family steals his food, and Charles tries to drive through a swamp area. Best show ever!

There were so many heart warming, tear jerkers...too many to name. So, my favorite comedic episode had to be in the first season when Ma and Pa go off on a trip together and Mr. Edwards agrees to babysit the girls :)

Funny how MOST people's favorites was The Lord Is My Shepherd, for ME, that was my LEAST favorite. My favorite "Albert" episode, is "Sylvia", because it showed how much he really cared for "Sylvia", and was willing to do ANYTHING for her.

Sylvia has given me my fear of clowns. Just before it was aired, I was molested by a person from my church. He always had one of those big, goofy grins and, I guess, I associated that with the mask worn by her rapist.

Nobody posted about the crazy psychopath wearing the mask that raped Sylvia, and why Sylvia never said anything about it. This episode wasn't that well planned, because at first it led you to believe Sylvia was an incest victim, but it's the most memorable one by far. I didn't enjoy Lord is My Shepherd. I preferred all the episodes when they were younger.

I like the episode where Billy Barty saves a child who has fallen down a well or a mineshaft or something after people in the town have treated him like a scary freak. You rarely got to see him play dramatic roles, and he was awesome in that one.

I was so sad when Alice died. She was one of my favorites. I own all the season's and watch them often. They never get old. Loved the Mr sprag episode,bunny and the race, sweet 16, whisper country, the blizzard, and anything with Mr Edwards in it.. So many great episodes.

For those who think they can't find time in their day to exercise, just do what I do, if you're able to & if it makes sense for you: make your tv time your exercise time. For those like me who don't watch much tv but have something like nightly national news that we tune into, there's a person's 20-30 minutes of daily exercise right there. Exercising while watching something you would've tuned into anyways makes the exercise go by in a flash.

Unfortunately, I grew up with an absentee father and abusive mother. I had no frame of reference for “good parents”; until I started watching this show. No matter how bad things got or how angry Ma was, she was always loving, patient, understanding, and forgiving to her children. That’s a good mother.
The one episode where Albert gets into trouble for something and Pa stands there so proudly and says “I’ll assume responsibility for my son”, had me in tears. He adopted Albert, a boy he didn’t even know, and made him an equal child in his heart. That’s a good father, a good man.
This is the parenting I try to emulate. My 2 kids are grown, college graduates, leading happy successful lives and my husband and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this year.
I wonder if the cast knows how much this show meant to kids.

I think Albert got confused at the end he said he murdered her pointing to the lady who played Ms. Beatle instead of the lady on the end who played Mrs. Garvey.I miss Michael Landon so much when I see reruns of Bonanza and Little House.I can't imagine how much his friends and family miss him.Little House was such a wonderful show that could not be recreated today.I think that the time it was made was the only time in history that it could have been made.The time was right, they had the technology that was not available 10 years earlier and 10 years later the salaries for child stars would have prevented it being made.The child stars of Little House didn't seem to suffer the sad fates like most of the Hollywood kids.I think that is a credit to the way Michael ran the show.I saw an interview with Mellisa Gilbert where she said they were treated as professional actors and were expected to know lines and be on time the same as adults.She said no one had the nerve to ask for a fancy dressing trailer because Michael had a small plain one.

My favorite is the opening of every episode, watching Carrie faceplant, then get up like nothing happened. Her heals even fly up behind her. As a little kid, that made me laugh every time. Can't script that.

Season 8 episode 7 The legend of Black Jake has got to be the all time funniest episode. I laugh so hard every time I watch it. Nells was my favorite character. Poor man got picked on by Harriet so much. I was glad to finally see him get some payback on her.. Lol

I liked the episode where the Widow Snyder(sp) was using Dr Baker to make Mr Edwards jealous. And Mr Edwards was sending himself letters to maker her jealous. I like the episodes where Nellie meets Purcival (sp) also. I also thought the episode where Pa punched Manley, thinking he was kissing Laura, was funny too.

I loved most episodes. The best series of shows for me was Laura and Almanzo falling in love and getting married. I also loved "I'll be waving as you drive away". All episode showcasing the Oleson's were favorites of mine. I think "May we make them proud", though well acted, was really the only episode I thought was uncalled for. It was just too unnecessarily sad, violent, scary and haunting. I also thought bringing on James and Cassandra was completely unnecessary.

I remember being shook watching Alice’s death scene. I mean we went from episodes like the richest man in Walmart grove to Alice and Mary’s baby being burnt alive before our eyes my face did not change from a melodramatic shocked expression for a while 😅 it was intense! My Favorite Little House episode was when they had to fight off an alien invasion of Walnut Grove.
That was a creepy episode because the aliens could transform themselves to look like people in the town.
The Alien Spaceship was cool. I think it was saucer shaped but had cool looking landing gear.
But while there were alot of great episodes that was probably my favorite.
