The things I miss most about the 1980s is the optimism. Yeah, we had the last threats of the Cold war - but we were moving forward! We had a GREAT president, we had space shuttle launches - there was nothing we couldn't do - no limits! We were going to the stars! We had money, we had fast cars, beautiful women the best movies and holding it ALL together was the MUSIC - music like this.
The 1980s was probably the biggest creative boom America and the WORLD has ever had. I really hope we can get back to that spirit.

That’s so true. Today we live in meaningless times. There is literally nothing that 1995-2024 will be remembered for. No specific music, clothing styles, cars. Nothing.

The question we 80's teens have to ask, and then take action on, is this: WHY is it like this? 🤔 There was a lot set in motion almost 100 years before we were here, and we were the last gen to have that positivity in the marketplace of ideas, culture at large, etc.

It's amazing how the lyrics, just the lyrics, defined a whole decade, even if the song was released back in 2014 if I'm not mistaken. The music however, gives them the absolute explosion, forcing people to become one with it, wearing skinny jeans, leather jackets, driving cabriolet on the coastal avenue, with their pank rock hair in various colors......wow, what an adventure!

Its crazy how distinct the music from the 80s sounds... just listening takes you back to an 80s frame of mind and brings out those feelings you've experienced in that decade. For me it was my preteen days leading up to 14 years old at the end of the decade. I miss how things were in the 80s - the music, the movies, the tv shows, the fashion, the hairstyle, the girlfriends and crushes I had and just the strong connections we had with one another. Those were simpler times. There is nothing like being young in the 80s.

I love this kind of music, but the point is that I'm a 90s born kid and my teens were in the 2000s. But there's a vibe around it, an optimism and energy to look towards the future....and somehow the modern music is more negative IMHO.

Yeah, I remember a strong optimism vibe in the 80s. Life was good and we thought the future was going to be even better. The 90s was the beginning of an intensely dark time, and also a lot of cringe in mainstream media.
