One More Time
Tommy Strange & The Features Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Won't you break my heart
One more time
Won't you kiss my lips
One more time
I'll be back but I know
What I'll find
You'll just break my heart
One more time

Treat me mean; do me wrong
I don't care
Call my name, believe me dear,
I'll be there
Lie to me, another round
With every kind
And then break my poor heart
One more time

Walk on me, twist my mind
Put me down
You need a friend, but there won't be
One around
When luck runs out, you'll need someone
To treat you kind
I'll be there, break my heart
One more time

I'll be there, break my heart
One more time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "One More Time" by Tommy Strange & The Features appear to describe a relationship that is tumultuous and potentially toxic. The singer seems to be asking their partner to hurt them again, despite knowing that it will ultimately lead to heartbreak. They are willing to put up with mistreatment, lies, and betrayal in order to maintain some kind of connection with this person. The final verse, however, suggests that the singer is aware that the tables may turn and their partner may end up needing them in the end.

The song touches on the complex dynamics of some relationships, where the line between love and pain can become blurred. The lyrics may also speak to the idea of self-destructive behavior, where individuals engage in behaviors that they know are harmful to themselves.

Overall, "One More Time" is a poignant reminder of the power of love and the lengths to which some people will go to hold onto it, even at their own expense.

Now THIS is country music. No processed beats, no redundant mentioning of daisy dukes, 4x4s, or cowboy boots, and no bullshit. Just a man with a tear in his beer, and the beautiful sounds of an authentic backing band. Great stuff.

I was my pleasure to tour with Tommy during 1962. I was amazing to play to standing room only crowds, especially at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. Truly a great musician and person.

Boy, they are great. I found out about them from the movie "Disappearance At Clifton Hill". I love the steel guitar and that is what makes great country music.
