Blackout
Tommy and the Whale Lyrics

Not one could be found
It was a blackout
The streets were covered up from the bottom to the top with the people now
Someone made a sound
Through the dark it rang
They sang
It's a blackout
They sang
Oo oo oo oo
It's a blackout
So we all looked around but the source of the sound could not be found
Hidden in the dark
It was a blackout
People gathered up from the bottom to the top of the city somehow
Sat down on the ground
With one voice we sang
We sang
Oo oo oo oo
It's a blackout
We sang
Oo oo oo oo
It's a blackout
Uh-huh
Oo oo oo oo
Oo oo oo oo
It's a blackout
Uh-huh
Oo oo oo oo
It's a blackout
Oo oo oo oo
It's a blackout
Oo oo oo oo
Oo oo oo oo
It's a blackout
The song "Blackout" by Tommy and the Whale describes a moment in time when every light went out in the city, causing the streets to become dark and eerie. The singer describes standing downtown when suddenly all the lights went out, and not one could be found. The blackout created a sense of confusion and disorientation as people were left to navigate the city in the dark. However, in the midst of the confusion, a sound emerged through the darkness, and the people started to sing together. The song portrays the unity that can be found in moments of crisis as people come together to collectively face their fears.
The song seems to be a commentary on the state of the world today, where the threats of climate change, pandemics, and political instability loom large, and we are left to confront these challenges without any proper guidance from leaders. The blackout in the song represents a metaphor for the challenges that we face today, and the only way to overcome them is by coming together, united and strong.
Overall, the song "Blackout" by Tommy and the Whale is an uplifting tune that highlights the power of collective voice and the need to unify in difficult times.
