I’m only 15 but this franchise means more than anything else to me. The very first game I ever played was sonic 1 when I was two years old on original hardware, I truly believe that that moment has been responsible for everything about me today: my love for games and consoles older than me, my taste in games, my taste in music, my love for the anime which have inspired many parts of this series I have that game to thank for it.
Despite that, I don’t really have any memories from when I was really young with sonic, except for playing 06 and unleashed. I very distinctly remember the first time I heard both his world and endless possibilities, these songs are now what drives me to go forward in a lot of aspects. I picked up guitar around 2 months ago and just the prospect of being able to play these songs drives me to keep trying. Now matter how I feel, hearing the opening violin of this song and the guitar in endless possibilities is what keeps my head on my shoulders.
There are many people over the years who have given me grief because of my love to what is considered “a franchise made for kids”, but these songs do they’re absolute best to inspire everyone of any age no matter who they are. And these songs are the embodiment of everything I love about this franchise and why I didn’t discard it once I reached a certain age.
I will always come back to these songs because they were always there for me, and so I leave this comment hoping I will find it in the future and update it with whatever I feel like at that time.

I've started playing this game recently and so far I've beaten Sonic Story, I'm quite liking it honestly

Edit #1: I've just completed Shadow Story, still finding it enjoyable
Edit #2: Silver's Story has even completed, I think I'm loving the game even more
Edit #3: I did it everybody, the final story is finished now. I can tell I'll lose my voice tomorrow simply from all the excited screaming I was doing after beating Solaris.
This game holds a special place in my heart and will forever stay there. Its not a perfect game by any means, but it certainly has alot of things going for it that most fans overlook.
I had a blast playing this game and will hold 0 regret at all praising Sonic 06 going forward. (Not like I had any to begin with but it only cements it further for me)

Dear Sonic 06,
When I was a kid, I used to watch your cinematics over and over again and admire them on Internet. I didn't understand a word of English at the time, yet I loved watching them again, trying to understand the characters through their emotions, especially the last cinematic in Silver's story, which had a huge impact on me, with Blaze's sacrifice.
To begin, thank you Sonic 06 for creating Silver. His design is just perfect for me. The long silver spikes, his white collar, the black markings around his eyes and especially the green markings on his hands, I'm just a fan. I don't think any other character you'll ever create will have such a good design in my eyes. But Silver's design isn't the only thing that's remarkable about him. It's also the fact that he's a character with such powerful powers and yet he's so human... That's something I love about Silver. The fact that he's so powerful but not "brave" enough to seal his best friend. For the time, I think this kind of staging was quite rare with a powerful male character who doesn't dare take responsibility, whereas Blaze, a woman, doesn't hesitate to sacrifice herself while managing her own sealing. This moment, for me, makes Silver really identifiable, realistic and gives him such a human side that he definitely made an impression on me as a child.
I can see why people don't like Elise. The fact that she gets kidnapped all the time doesn't help to like her, especially when she decides to go to Eggman straight after Sonic saves him. On paper, it's commendable of her to sacrifice herself to spare her people. But from the player's point of view, it feels like she's literally taking the piss out of us when we have to save her for the umpteenth time. The scriptwriters clearly should have reworked Sonic's story and, for that matter, I think that even if it had been released without being messed up, the scenario would have remained the same. They don't really have an excuse there. However, I still like the character. We're talking about a young girl who's carried a curse since childhood and who must never break, never give in to her emotions, or else she'll doom the world. I think it's a beautiful thing, and her musical theme is a great response to this problem. Thanks to Sonic, she learns to release the emotions she has locked away and to live life to the full. Like Silver, there's a realistic side to her when she doesn't want to extinguish the flame so as not to forget Sonic. And yet she's willing to do what's necessary and sacrifice her great "friendship" with Sonic. Sorry, but I think she's a good character. Unfortunately for her, she'll only be remembered for the famous controversial scene. And I think there's literally no chance of her returning in a future game, even a mobile one. Shame I suppose, but all the better for those who hate her.
As far as Mephiles is concerned, I have to admit that I love his theme and design. It's true that they went a bit overboard with his evil side that it got a bit ridiculous at times, especially with his laughter. That said, he deserves credit for almost killing Sonic, which is something not many villains in the franchise can boast. I admit I don't have much to say about him, but I can't help but find him striking. I don't know if he deserves another appearance in a future game in the main franchise and I don't think that's going to happen for a long time, if ever, but I much prefer villains like him to others like the Zetis. It's good enough for him that he's in mobile games.
To conclude,
Yes, Sonic 06, you were an abominable game for many people.
Yes, Sonic 06, your bugs, load times and famous kissing scene are hard to forgive.
Yes, Sonic 06, you were the game that completely ruined Sonic and Sega's reputation for a long time, and even to some extent to this day.
Yes, Sonic 06, it's probably because of you that Sega no longer dares to make Sonic adventure games with several playable characters other than Sonic in a Sonic 3D.
Yes, Sonic 06, you might be the worst Sonic game ever released for some people (and God knows there's competition out there).
But despite all that, I'm glad you exist, Sonic 06. Just for Silver, just for establishing his duet with Blaze, and just for your music. Thank you Sonic 06.
And thank you Sega for giving Silver another chance by reintroducing him in other games instead of forgetting about him. You certainly won't be making him playable for a long time in a main franchise game, but I'll always be grateful to you for not throwing him out and making him playable in your party games. He's my favourite character in your franchise and even one of my favourite fictional characters so thank you.

I personally love Sonic Unleashed. I know the night stages were a bit rough for some, but I feel like no other sonic game since then has lived up to its feeling of speed. It has my favorite character model, cutscenes, and voice actor out of any games I’ve played. I don’t really know why I’m saying this other than to get it out there because the blue guy seems to be struggling a bit nowadays.
