Tone started singing in a local choir when she was 4-5 years old. She knew early on she wanted to be a singer. She took singing lessons and she has also played in a band. Her influences come from “grown up” artists, like Jeff Buckley and Radka Toneff.
She was the runner-up in the Norwegian Idol song contest, losing to Jorun Stiansen in the final. The finale was the most watched televised entertainment event in the history of the TV2 broadcasting house, with 1,4 million viewers. Even though she came in second, she is one of the only Idol participants that has actually gone on to have a singing career. The only one that’s been more successful than her is the original winner, Kurt Nilsen. She has released 4 studio albums;“Bliss”, “Sweet Fever”, “I Know” and “Cocool”, and also the greatest hits compilation “Looking Back”.
She took part in the Melodi Grand Prix, Norwegian pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2009, with the song “Butterflies”, and ended up as the runner-up yet again. Her song was on the Norwegian Top 20 list (VG-lista) for 16 weeks. She also took part in the second season of the Norwegian version of Dancing with the Stars, in 2006, where she finished third. In 2013, she entered the Swedish pre-selections for ESC, Melodifestivalen, with the duet “Hello Goodbye” featuring Erik Segerstedt, ending up not making the finals.
At the end of 2012, she started releasing singles from an upcoming fifth studio album, starting with Smash. This time, she worked with different producers for a more synthesized pop sound than her usual material. The next single, Winner of a Losing Game, produced by Stargate, was released on June 21st. The EP also included the Darkchild-produced “Perfect World” and “Hello Goodbye”. The EP was released on January 20th, along with a final song, ‘Heartkill’.

Tell me the truth, we'll ever die, I'm getting tierd of waiting
I'm here, holding the door
You're in there, pacing the floor
So come on, what will it be
Are you gonna wait for me? yeah
You got me looking at the best of me
Look at my hands, look at my eyes
Here I am, I'm all yours
And you caught me just as I was going down
And all that matters now is that you stick around
Every day, every night
Here I am
I know you told everyone when I was gone when I was gone,
Babe you missed me
And looking at you I know it's real I know it feels good to kiss you
I've been standing in line while you're in taking your time
I'm wastin' months that I got, I know do I stay or go?
You got me looking at the best of me
And tell me do you wanna see the rest of me?
Look at my hands, look at my eyes
Here I am, I'm all yours
And you caught me just as I was going down
And all that matters now is that you stick around
Every day, every night
Here I am
So now it's time for you to tell em what you want
What's it gonna be baby do or don't
I'm not gonna wait around another day
What's it gonna be, are you up for me?
You got me looking at the best of me
And tell me do you wanna see the rest of me?
Look at my hands, look at my eyes
Here I am, I'm all yours
And you caught me just as I was going down
And all that matters now is that you stick around
Every day, every night
Here I am
Oh oh ohoh
Here I am, I'm all yours
You got me, you got me
The lyrics to Tone Damli's song "Here I Am" are about a woman who is waiting for her lover to make a decision about their future together. The first verse implies that the two have been in a relationship for some time and the woman is growing tired of waiting for her partner to make a commitment. She asks her partner to be truthful with her about whether they believe they will spend the rest of their lives together. Meanwhile, the woman is waiting for her partner to come out of a room, presumably after a discussion about their future. She wonders if her partner will choose to wait for her or if they will decide to end their relationship.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Here I am" to emphasize the woman's willingness to commit to the relationship. She pleads for her partner to see the best in her and to stick around for the rest. The lyrics also suggest that the couple has been through some tough times, with the woman stating "all that matters now is that you stick around."
The second verse portrays the woman's doubts about her partner's commitment to their relationship. She has been waiting in line while her partner has been taking their time to decide. The woman is torn between staying and leaving, wondering if it's worth it to waste any more time.
Overall, "Here I Am" is a romantic ballad about the struggles of committing to a long-term relationship. The lyrics convey a complex range of emotions, from hopefulness to frustration and doubt.
