Tone started singing in a local choir when she was 4-5 years old. She knew early on she wanted to be a singer. She took singing lessons and she has also played in a band. Her influences come from “grown up” artists, like Jeff Buckley and Radka Toneff.
She was the runner-up in the Norwegian Idol song contest, losing to Jorun Stiansen in the final. The finale was the most watched televised entertainment event in the history of the TV2 broadcasting house, with 1,4 million viewers. Even though she came in second, she is one of the only Idol participants that has actually gone on to have a singing career. The only one that’s been more successful than her is the original winner, Kurt Nilsen. She has released 4 studio albums;“Bliss”, “Sweet Fever”, “I Know” and “Cocool”, and also the greatest hits compilation “Looking Back”.
She took part in the Melodi Grand Prix, Norwegian pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2009, with the song “Butterflies”, and ended up as the runner-up yet again. Her song was on the Norwegian Top 20 list (VG-lista) for 16 weeks. She also took part in the second season of the Norwegian version of Dancing with the Stars, in 2006, where she finished third. In 2013, she entered the Swedish pre-selections for ESC, Melodifestivalen, with the duet “Hello Goodbye” featuring Erik Segerstedt, ending up not making the finals.
At the end of 2012, she started releasing singles from an upcoming fifth studio album, starting with Smash. This time, she worked with different producers for a more synthesized pop sound than her usual material. The next single, Winner of a Losing Game, produced by Stargate, was released on June 21st. The EP also included the Darkchild-produced “Perfect World” and “Hello Goodbye”. The EP was released on January 20th, along with a final song, ‘Heartkill’.

But the closer I get it starts to unfold
I'm getting closer, and it feels alright
I'm diving deeper, into your eyes
And I would do my best not to crash
So crazy how i know you got my back
I'm leaning forward, I'll take the lead
As I'm calling form afar
Diving faster than a shooting star
I'm falling hard right into your arms
I know that you will break my fall
And it feels so good, knowing that you
Will be my parachute
All is blue, but when i close my eyes
I discover fears that's hidden deep inside
I wanna go back, but it's too late
Unless the wind will change
It'll slow my pains
As I'm calling form afar
Diving faster than a shooting star
I'm falling hard right into your arms
I know that you will break my fall
And it feels so good, knowing that you
Will be my parachute
I'm never scared of flying
This time i feel like dying
I'm almost there
I'm getting close
I travel far
Just to get on to you, you oh
As I'm calling form afar
Diving faster than a shooting star
I'm falling hard right into your arms
I know that you will break my fall
And it feels so good, knowing that you
Will be my parachute
As I'm calling form afar
Diving faster than a shooting star
I'm falling hard right into your arms
I know that you will break my fall
And it feels so good, knowing that you
Will be my parachute
The lyrics to Tone Damli's song Parachute depict a powerful and adventurous love story. The opening lines allude to the euphoric feeling of being high up in the sky and looking down at the world below. However, as the singer gets closer to their loved one, they begin to feel vulnerable, and the fear of falling becomes apparent. They express their trust in their partner to catch them and how comforting it is to know that they can be their parachute.
The chorus is the most impactful part of the song, emphasizing the power of love to break one's fall in a time of need, whether it be metaphorically or literally. The singer's feelings are intense and passionate and reflect the bravery and trust needed to fall in love recklessly. The bridge of the song is the confession of the singer's fears and their desire to run back to where they came from. Still, they acknowledge that their partner will be there to break their fall, making them feel safe and secure.
Overall, the song Parachute is a powerful love song that showcases the importance of trust and support in a relationship. It is about the vulnerability and fear that come with falling in love but also the comfort that comes with the parachute that can offer support and rescue. The song is a testament to the power of love to make one feel invincible and secure.
