It don't mean a thing
If it ain't got that swing
Doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah

No, it don't mean a thing
All you got to do is sing
Doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah
Makes no diff'rence
If it's sweet or it's hot

Give it all that rhythm that you got

Oh, it don't mean a thing
If it ain't got that swing
Doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah
(Tony) Got that

It makes no diff'rence
If it's sweet or hot

Just give that rhythm everything that you got

No, it don't mean a thing
If it ain't got that swing
Doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah

Doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah da
Doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah doo wah, doo wah, doo wah, doo wah

Overall Meaning

"It Don't Mean A Thing" by Tony Bennett is a classic jazz song that emphasizes the importance of swing in music. The lyrics tell us that no matter how sweet or hot the music is, it won't mean anything if it doesn't have that lively and infectious quality of swing. The chorus of "doo wah, doo wah" adds to the playful tone of the song and emphasizes the rhythm and upbeat nature of the music. The main message of the song is that swing, which is the rhythmic pulse of the music that makes you want to dance and move, is what really matters.

The song is a celebration of the jazz genre and its unique style, which has influenced countless musicians and continues to be popular today. The lyrics also highlight the importance of musicality and how it is more important than any specific genre or style. Wooow, what an amazingly fast, pure, sharp and perfectly pitched voice Lady G has - better than that, it is a real vocal instrument.

It's like the sweetest blend of plucked steel strings and the best tone production and control on brass. Very nice vibrato too. Talk about flexibility and dexterity, the Lady has it.

Where did she get all that from...not the Macy's catalogue!

Such attack on each note. One of the most perfect jazz voices I've heard.

Love, andrea

this era is criminally underrated

@Mansardian

To each mind his own music. The problem: society gets dumber and dumber. Music reflects that. It is a mirror of people's mind.

@ssmith6974

Absolutely!

@rjr6912

Wait do you mean this era of music or this era of Lady Gaga's career? For you'd be right in both cases haha

@ssmith6974

@@rjr6912 I like Lady Gaga and she can belt it out, but it's hard to tell real 'raw' talent anymore with all of the equipment available. I was talking about that jazz era. Awesome music..it makes my feet move! Lol

@jayanirmala-lo3vp

Never underrated on that era
This is 40s to 50s era
