1. Tony Thompson (September 2, 1975 β June 1, 2007) was an American R&B/soul singer and the lead vocalist of the R&B group Hi-Five. Thompson, who was raised in Oklahoma City, started singing solos in the local church choir at the age of eight. He was noticed by the manager and promoter Robert Ford, and made a cut of a demo with Roderick Clark, Russell Neal, Marcus Sanders, and Toriano Easley, acquaintances from his days in Waco. Hi-Five signed with Jive Records in 1990. The quintet's self-titled debut album went multi-platinum and created several hits, including the billboard hot 100 #1 "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)," "I Can't Wait Another Minute," and "Just Another Girlfriend".
In 1992, the group released Keep It Goin On, with "She's Playing Hard to Get" and "Quality Time". Faithful appeared the following year. Thompson's solo debut, Sexsational, was released on Giant Records in 1995.
Thompson formed his own record label, N'Depth, and re-incarnated Hi-Five with four new members, one of whom was his younger brother. The group's new album, The Return, was released in 2006.
He died from a freon overdose a.k.a "huffing" (as it has been confirmed through autopsy results) on June 1, 2007 at age 31 in his hometown of Waco. Thompson had recently moved back to Waco from Dallas, Texas and was working on new material for a solo album at the time of his death.
2. Tony Thompson has produced four CDs since establishing independent jazz record label Tonymanmusicβ in 1999.
I Know
Tony Thompson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You don't have to say a thing
And I know
All the pain that I bring
And I know
That you still care for me
Yes, I know
These lyrics are from the chorus of Tony Thompson's song "I Know". The song seems to be about an apologetic man who realizes that he has caused his partner pain but still believes that she cares for him. He acknowledges that he has hurt her and doesn't need her to say anything about it. He seems to be trying to apologize and make amends for his past mistakes.
The lyrics are beautifully written and poetic in their simplicity. The repetition of "And I know, and I know" emphasizes how certain the singer is about the situation. The use of the word "baby" adds a touch of intimacy and familiarity to the song, making it feel like a conversation between two people who know each other well.
Overall, "I Know" is a heartfelt and soulful track that showcases Tony Thompson's powerful vocal abilities and emotional depth as an artist. It's a reminder that even when we make mistakes, we can still ask for forgiveness and try to make things right.

I think this album should of hit the #1 chart. I don't understand why they said it wasn't as successful as when he was with his group, I think it was better

Didn't get promoted right. He was on giant records, even though he has big time produces on the album (Babyface, puff, devonte swing, Teddy Riley, Al b Sure) and a few others the machine was a bullshit label. I barely heard his joints on the radio
