After 'RENT', Vincent was off to London after being cast in a cutting-edge film of 'Jesus Christ Superstar;. Vincent later returned to New York to appear in the Broadway revival of "Superstar". As the lead role of Judas Iscariot. After a successful broadway run, Vincent started development work for a new record spending considerable time collaborating with other writer-producers in Los Angeles, New York, Woodstock, Sweden, and London.
While taking time to write in London, Vincent was invited to audition for Brian May, Roger Taylor and Ben Elton. Vincent was cast as the lead role of Galileo Gigaro in the notorious rock band, Queen's world premiere production of 'WE WILL ROCK YOU'. Vincent spent two years with the show playing to sold-out audiences at nearly every performance. Once 'WE WILL ROCK YOU' became a solid hit in London, producers invited Vincent to open the first American company in a new permanent theater at the Paris, Las Vegas Resort.
Later, in 2010, Vincent joined Broadway once again in the Tony Award Winning musical production of American Idiot. Based on the highly successful Grammy award winning album 'American Idiot' by Green Day. His performance of 'St. Jimmy', the drug addicted alter ego of 'Johnny/Jesus of Suburbia' got him nominated for the Drama League Award of 'Distinguished Performance' and 'Favourite Performance by a Featured Actor in a Broadway Musical' by Broadway.com Audience Award. Vincent left the performance briefly from September 27, 2010 to October 3, 2010. Then completely leaving the production in January 2011.
Now in 2012, Vincent is staring on the hit show, 'The Voice'. A show much like 'American Idol' but focusing completely on the singer's voice instead of looks as well. During the 'Blind auditions' (the judges were to turn around while the singer performed), Vincent chose 'We Are the Champions. And was chosen to be worked with by the extremely talented artist Cee Lo Green who is famous for his song 'Forget You (F*** You)' and 'Crazy'. The show is currently still in production.
Living A Lie
Tony Vincent Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
each time i look at you
(do you feel no pain)
where is the realness
that deep-rooted realness you mask in vain
(you show the right smile, you got the act down)
there've been many-a-night when i have cried on my own
the struggle inside you give me is not unknown
You go through the motions
you know the right words to say
(you've trained yourself well)
you scoff at the heathens
but deep you inside you are exactly the same
(why?why?why?)
is there no difference in the way we should live
instead of loving ourselves it's His love we should give
(i think you know that)
I can only imagine what He feels when He looks at us
his hurt is so great as the tears fill his eyes
i know you know about the love He has for me and you
but how can we show others when we're living a lie
How long can this go on
when will we stop kidding ourselves
(and face the real world)
we've got to do something
and show them the one true love that we've felt
(from God's only son)
my head and my heart these convictions they share
we've got to throw down the false painted faces we wear
(and show the one above)
When will you stop
stop living a lie
don't you know
it hurts me inside
when will you admit
admit and realize
that you're living a lie
From the single.. 'Love falling down'.
The lyrics of Tony Vincent's song "Living A Lie" are a poignant commentary on the hypocrisy of individuals who espouse religious beliefs but fail to embody the essence of those beliefs. The song is a call-to-action to the individuals who pretend to have a deep-rooted love for God and engage in religious practices but fail to understand the core essence of their faith. The song is an outcry against the fakeness that such individuals embody, and the harm this causes to themselves, others, and the faith they claim to follow.
Throughout the song, Tony Vincent draws attention to the inner struggle that those who live a lie face. He highlights the pain and hurt that not only they but also God feels when they deceive themselves and others. The lyrics suggest that the individuals who are living a lie are aware of their insincerity, yet they continue to deceive others, which causes a deep sense of isolation and loneliness. The opening lyrics set the tone for the rest of the song as Vincent sings, "I feel so alone now, each time I look at you, where is the realness, that deep-rooted realness you mask in vain." These powerful words capture the hurt and disappointment that Vincent feels as he looks at people who claim to be religious but fail to embody their faith.
The song's central theme is the importance of expressive Christianity and living an authentic life that aligns with one's religious beliefs. The song challenges individuals to introspect and understand the essence of their faith and the importance of understanding and embodying its teachings. It urges individuals to move away from the pretense of religious piety and embrace the love and compassion that lies at the heart of many religions.
