Hologram
Topic Lyrics

...
Light years away
But you apear in his lingers on
Points in my way
I've been chaising you a way to long
We're tying out to reach you
But all I grab is nothing
Wounder a prouching knowing that
And touching means suffering
You're just a hologram
The closer I get the more you blurr
'Cause you're just a hologram
The brighter you shine the moments raise
...
The brighter you shine the moments raise
...
Light years away
I rather stay away from you
Should find my way
But you're still at the end of my room
We're trying out to reach you, But all I grab is nothing
Wounder how prouching knowing that, touching me is suffering
You're just a hologram
The closer I get the more you blurr
'Cause you're just a Hologram
The brighter you shine the moments raise
2xYou're just a hologram
The brighter you shine the moments raise
You're just a hologram
The closer I get the more you blurr

But you're just a hologram
The brighter you shine the moments raise

Overall Meaning

In "Hologram," Topic feat. Safi Nacef sings about a love interest who feels like a distant illusion or figment of the imagination - a hologram. The lyrics convey a sense of longing and frustration as the singer struggles to reach the person they desire. The distance between them appears insurmountable, with the object of their affection always just out of reach. Despite the singer's constant efforts to connect with this person, they can never seem to grasp hold of anything tangible. Furthermore, the closer they get, the hazier the illusion becomes, leading to confusion and disappointment. The brighter the illusion shines, the more fleeting the moments seem. This intimate portrait of a relationship that can never fully be realized due to obstacles in the way creates a dream-like atmosphere of unfulfilled longing and yearning.

The song "Hologram" was released on June 21st, 2019, and has since garnered over 16 million views on Youtube. It is a part of Topic's debut album, called "Miles," which was released in 2020. The song features Safi Nacef, a French-Moroccan singer, as a guest vocalist. Holograms are three-dimensional images suspended in air, and the song's lyrics use this symbol as a metaphor for a love unattainable. The music video for the song features a character who exists as a hologram, and the setting is a trippy, psychedelic world that amplifies the dream-like qualities that the lyrics suggest.
