Toploader’s live career began playing with the likes of Coldplay and Muse in small venues across the UK. They later went on to back the likes of Paul Weller, Robbie Williams and Bon Jovi, becoming the last British band to play the original Wembley stadium. A string of top 20 hits both home and abroad followed, with Toploader quickly rising to become one of the most popular acts in British music. Their debut album, Onka’s Big Moka, sold over 1 million units and remained in the Top 5 of the UK album chart for over six months. Their cover of King Harvest’s song “Dancing in the Moonlight” became a global hit for the band. Their second album ‘Magic Hotel’, reached number 3, beating the number 4 of the debut. The result was over two million album sales to their name.
The band decided to break in 2003 due to the demise of their record label S2. In 2009, after an extended hiatus, they signed a one-album deal with Underdogs Music for their third album, which was released in June 2011.
The band line-up includes four of the five original members: Joseph Washbourn, Dan Hipgrave, Rob Green and Matt Knight.

that moved him
the child never grew the line it came true
and all around
inside dreams it stays
dormant through these days
that follow
reminded only by the saddest lullaby
you've got to lie down for a while
this will pass its only mild
you've got to ease your mind
for a while
i know ill never be able to be free
from these memories
have love in life the same
embrace it every day
that it comes to you
you've got to lie down for a while
this will pass its only mild
you've got to ease your mind
you've got to ease your mind for a while
lie down for a while
this will pass its only mild
you've got to ease your mind for a while
only for a while
only for a while
only for a while
The lyrics of Toploader's song "Only For A While" tell a story of a child who heard a line that had a great impact on him. The line remained in his mind, and as he grew older, it came true. The child never forgot about the line and kept it inside his dreams, which made it real to him. However, as he faced sad times, he was only reminded of that line through the saddest lullaby.
The lyrics then shift to focus on the singer, who acknowledges that he cannot be free from his own memories. He talks about the importance of embracing love whenever it appears and enjoying it every day. The chorus then returns, with the singer advising listeners to lie down and let time pass because the problems they face are only mild. The only thing they need to do is ease their mind for a little while.
Overall, the lyrics of "Only For A While" tell a story of how a simple line can grow in significance over time and how sometimes it is necessary to take a break from the problems of daily life. The song serves as a reminder to listeners about the power of positive affirmations and self-love.
