He started to play piano after his parents set up a lesson with a piano teacher who he said to be "a laid-back New Jersey wedding singer". From there, Miller started to develop singing and writing songs. During his high school, he started a pop-punk band. When he was 18 years old, Tor Miller went to New York University, specifically Clive Davis School of Recorded Music. He also spent his weekends playing piano at places such as Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, and the burlesque bar, Slipper Room in the East Village.
Miller was signed to the independent label, Glassnote Records in early 2014 and subsequently dropped out from NYU due to scheduling problems (especially since he played music in a number of NYC venues). His first debut EP, Headlights EP, containing four songs that includes the positively reviewed "Midnight" was released in February 2015.

And I can hardly feel the floor
A sudden head high
Flashing light only get me wanting more
I start to shrink′ I sink into my own lonely world
I overthink' I drink′ I'm spinning in a hazy world
I can feel the night taking over me
I can see how it's changing me
And I just can′t fake it anymore
Take me home, take me home, I′m ready
Take me home' take me home, I′m ready
Get by, good times only left me black and blue
I'm not the same guy′ live or die, at the palace in the view
I start to shrink, I sink into my own lonely world
I overthink, I drink, I'm spinning in a hazy world
I can feel the night taking over me
Not in the way it did before
I can see how it′s changing me
And I just can't fake it anymore
Take me home, take me home, I'm ready
Take me home, take me home, I′m ready
Take me home, take me home, I′m ready
Take me home
I can feel the night taking over me
Not in the way it did before
I can see how it's changing me
And I just can′t fake it anymore
Take me home, take me home, I'm ready
Take me home, take me home, I′m ready
(Take me home, take me home, I'm ready
Take me home, take me home, I′m ready)
The lyrics of "Take Me Home" by Tor Miller describe the singer's descent into a hazy, drug-filled world where he feels trapped and isolated. His surroundings are distorted as he sinks deeper into the loneliness of his own mind. He has reached a point where he can no longer pretend or hide his pain, and he desperately wants to be rescued from his own destructive tendencies. Miller explores the feeling of being lost in a world of excess and the desire for escape.
The first verse suggests that the singer is under the influence of drugs, as he describes having red eyes and feeling the effects of a "sudden head high." The flashing lights around him fuel his desire for more, and he begins to feel small and alone. The repetition of the phrase, "I overthink, I drink," indicates a possible addiction to alcohol or substances. Ultimately, he is stuck in a "hazy world" that he cannot escape.
In the chorus, the singer pleads to be taken home. He admits that he can no longer "fake it" and is ready for someone to help him leave this dark place. The repetition of "take me home" emphasizes his desperation and the urgency of the situation. It is a cry for help and a plea for someone or something to rescue him from his pain.
Overall, "Take Me Home" explores themes of addiction, depression, and the search for a way out of a destructive cycle. Miller's raw vocals and emotive lyrics convey the pain and desperation of the singer as he longs for escape and relief.
