Elise
Toro y Moi Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A ? you I can't do all
I'll stable her to make it happen for you.
I know I ? the sky
So you ?
With the feel still the glass.
Knew this was always gonna happen
In the breakin' down with all ?
Now I can be fine, working at your smile
Carry me Elise so I can wait.
Carry me Elise so I can't wait.
Knew this was always gonna happen
In the breakin' down with all ?
Now I can be fine, working at your smile
Now I can be fine, working at your smile
Carry me Elise so I can wait
Carry me Elise so I can't wait.
The lyrics of Toro y Moi's song "Elise" are somewhat abstract and open to interpretation. The first verse starts with an ambiguous phrase "Can you take me some other way?" which may suggest a desire to escape a situation or a reality that is uncomfortable or challenging. The following lines "A ? you I can't do all, I'll stable her to make it happen for you" are difficult to decipher, but one possible meaning could be that the singer is willing to go through some difficult or uncomfortable situation for the person addressed in the song, and they recognize that it may not be easy but they will try to endure it.
The second verse is even more enigmatic: "I know I ? the sky, So you? With the feel still the glass." One possible interpretation is that the singer recognizes that they have certain limitations or shortcomings, but they are willing to make an effort to connect or communicate with the person addressed in the song, maybe by relating to them through a shared experience or by trying to understand their perspective. The final lines "Knew this was always gonna happen, In the breakin' down with all? Now I can be fine, working at your smile, Carry me Elise so I can wait" could be interpreted as a recognition of the inevitability of certain things, even if they are difficult or painful, and a willingness to cope with them by focusing on finding happiness and joy in small things, like the smile of the person addressed in the song.
Overall, "Elise" seems to be a song about connection, perseverance, and finding meaning and happiness even in difficult circumstances. The lyrics are somewhat ambiguous, but they create a sense of empathy and intimacy that is characteristic of Toro y Moi's music.

I think the lyric is actually "And she's on her knees" instead of "and she's on her needs." :~)
