Half Dome
Toro y Moi Lyrics

Saturday we do Half Dome
If you want to go ahead
Just let me know
That wasn't all that bad
Oh well, I'll sleep tomorrow
I think I'ma take it slow
You must be waiting
I won't dare to look at time
Look at who you are beside
You must be waiting
The lyrics to Toro y Moi's song Half Dome tell the story of a weekend adventure between friends. The song starts off with a plan to go watch music on Friday night, followed by a hike up Half Dome the next day. The singer then gives a nonchalant warning to his friends that if they want to go ahead, they should let him know. The lyrics suggest that the singer is taking a laid-back approach to the weekend, stating that he'll sleep tomorrow and take it slow. The chorus then comes in with a melancholic tone, with the singer acknowledging that his friends are waiting for him, but he can't bring himself to look at the time or who he's beside.
The song Half Dome invokes a reflective and contemplative vibe. The singer seems to be caught in the moment, unsure of what he wants to do, but also acknowledging the pressures of time and the expectations of his friends. He's enjoying the weekend, but also wants to take it easy and not be rushed. The chorus resonates with the feeling of time slipping away, and the burden of having to make a decision.
Overall, the song speaks to the idea of balancing social and personal time, and the difficulties of trying to find that balance when there are expectations from others. The lyrics suggest that sometimes it's better to slow down and enjoy things at your own pace, rather than rushing ahead to keep up with others.
