DE SPEELDOOS is de titel van het langverwachte mini-album van De Staat-frontman Torre Florim in samenwerking met Roos Rebergen, zangeres van Roosbeef. Het album bevat zes nummers en de teksten van de liedjes zijn gebaseerd op gedichten van verstandelijk beperkte cliënten van zorgorganisatie Dichterbij.
Dichterbij ondersteunt mensen met een verstandelijke beperking en helpt hen met het nastreven van hun dromen. Torre Florim: “Een tijdje geleden werd ik gevraagd of ik wat moois kon doen met gedichten die gemaakt waren door cliënten van Dichterbij. Men had het gevoel dat er meer mee kon en moest gebeuren. Ik begreep direct waar dat gevoel vandaan kwam: de gedichten die ik las waren zo puur en bijzonder dat ik meteen enthousiast was om er mee aan de slag te gaan. Voor een aantal liedjes heb ik zelf slechts de muziek geschreven en de teksten van een of meerdere gedichten gebruikt als tekst voor het nummer. Bij veel gedichten had ik namelijk simpelweg het idee dat ik het zelf niet mooier zou kunnen zeggen.”
De samenwerking met Roos Rebergen kwam vrij spontaan tot stand. “Ik kende Roos vóór het project nog niet eens zo goed. Maar toen ik ervoor gevraagd werd leek het me te gek om dit samen met haar te doen. Gelukkig bleek dat wederzijds en we zijn erg tevreden met het resultaat,” aldus Florim. “Dichterbij gaat als organisatie op een hele mooie manier om met de kunst van hun cliënten. Ik ben dan ook erg blij dat er zoiets bijzonders uit voort gekomen is.”
Dichterbij gebruikt De Speeldoos onder andere als kerstgeschenk en als representatie van hun activiteiten. De cd is verpakt in een speeldoos, met werkend mechaniek van een van de liedjes op het album. De Speeldoos is in beperkte, genummerde oplage verkrijgbaar in deze bijzondere uitvoering, maar zal ook als reguliere cd-uitgave verschijnen. Florim: “Zeker het idee om een echte speeldoos te verwerken in het concept sprak me zeer aan. Alleen een cd had ik ook zo suf gevonden voor zo’n bijzonder project.”

The lyrics are written by inhabitants of ‘Dichterbij’, which is a institute for people with an intellectual disability.

Geweldig 😆❤. Zoals Harry Jekkers ooit al zong, raar is leuk! Trots om bij de rare mensen te horen :). Daarom vind ik ook Aurora (Aksnes) en band zo leuk, Warriors & Weirdo's. Net als De Staat vind ik dat een geweldige band al is de muziek totaal verschillend, maar wel met soms soortgelijke wereldboodschappen in hun teksten. Beide bands hebben iets gemeen met elkaar en stralen het ook uit wat mij overigens ook wat meer zelfvertrouwen geeft: Wees jezelf, beweeg hoe je wil wat een ander ook denkt, want dat laatste moet ik afleren, hoe anderen over je denken! Jezelf durven zijn dan ben je op z'n mooist :). Nu nog in praktijk aanleren en dan ben ik er.
