I am so glad this has been preserved for posterity. I do have the audio in my media player, but I digitized it in 2007 from the cassette tape I made in 1982 - probably using a Radio Shack cassette recorder - off the TV, and in the background I can hear my dad coming into the room and my mom shushing him. This is so much better.

This was one of the first singles I got back in '82, and the only record player we had was in our living room. The rest of the family first ridiculed me and eventually detested me for playing it constantly except when I was in school for a week, until my father "unfortunately" dropped something heavy on the record player, taking it out of business. At the time I was outraged, but as I got older I came to understand that teens desperate need to hear a favorite pop song on constant repeat are more related to the toddler's lust to hear the same story time after time, rather than a mature fascination of how the artist is interpreting a masterpiece. Had anybody told me that then, I would have denied any connection :) Anyway, I haven't thought of this song since, and 39 years later it still is kind of catchy, but I better understand why my parents sacrificed their record player after a week of this...
