In the mid 1980s they scored several hits on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, including "Takes a Little Time," which hit #1 in 1985. In their homeland, the same song reached number 17 in the UK Singles Chart.
Further releases included "Hit and Run" also a minor hit which reached #41 in 1985, "The River" which peaked at #44 in early 1986 and "What You Gonna Do About It" peaking at #63 in the summer of 1986 which also featured on the band's 1986 self-titled album although none of them reached the heights of the earlier release. All chart positions for these three tracks are for the UK Singles Chart. They recorded on London Records. A further track called "Jody" was released in 1987 but, despite being popular on the dance floors, failed to chart.
Their style of 80s electro soul was largely rendered obsolete by the massive popularity of house music in the UK from 1987 onwards, though they have latterly found popularity with hip 80s revivalists, in particular Canadian duo Chromeo who included "Takes A Little Time" on their 2005 mix CD Chromeo Presents Un Joli Mix Pour Toi
Just a little bit

Wish I'll be morning through
All from the days up to many signs
Which way should we turn
We--could take the road to pleasure
To everywhere
Upon you name it guarding the way we love
Takes a just a little bit
Tonight
Let's start the star of love
It takes just a little bit
Here just a little bit
Yay! Yeah! Yay! Yeah!
Tonight--tonight
We taking the wrong direction
Let's get back where we belong
This could only be the way you used to be
Let's start burning for love
You--were always pointing a finger
Never at your fair
Something tells me we're losing the stairs
Let's try to remake our love once again
It takes just a little bit
Takes a just a little bit
Tonight
Don't it take just a time
It takes just a little bit
Here just a little bit
I want you by my side
It takes just a little bit
Yeah just a little bit
Won't you take just a little bit
Tonight
Take just a little bit!
Yay! Yeah! Yay! Yeah!
Tonight--tonight
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
We could take a road to pleasure
Where it never ends
Or we may be fooling--just fooling ourselves
Guarding the trap where we could fall
It takes just a little bit
Takes just a little bit
Tonight
It's like we're running from love
It takes just a little bit
Takes just a little bit
Of our heart baby
Tonight
Just a little time
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Tonight
The lyrics to Total Contrast's song "Just a Little Bit" describe a relationship that has lost its way but is trying to find its path back to love. The lines "We taking the wrong direction, Let's get back where we belong" suggest that the couple has strayed from a healthy relationship and is trying to correct course. The idea of starting at a new beginning and wishing for morning implies that there has been a long, dark night, but there is hope for a new day.
The lyrics also suggest that the couple is standing at a crossroads, unsure of which way to turn. The lines "Which way should we turn" and "Something tells me we're losing the stairs" suggest a feeling of uncertainty about the future of their relationship. However, there is an underlying optimism that they can find their way back to love, as they sing "Let's try to remake our love once again."
Throughout the song, the refrain "It takes just a little bit" is repeated, urging the listener to believe that with just a small effort, love can be found. The song ends with "Just a little bit" repeated multiple times, emphasizing the importance of small, incremental steps towards change and renewal.
Overall, "Just a Little Bit" is an uplifting song about the power of hope and the potential for love to overcome adversity.
