I am preparing lessons. Snow is falling outside of my classroom window. On the rolling hills, darkened by an early January dusk, I see some lights peeking out from behind trees. My classroom is dark, except for some softly glowing lamps, and this music fills the space. Such a beautiful sound. It makes my heart fly. It gives me peace, and it reminds me that being alive is so wonderful.

My husband is from Mali and he listens to the sounds of Toumani and Sidiki playing Kora to relax. He has rubbed off on me... I'm having a super stressful day at work and found this video. Its relieving my stress as I type, my mind is clear and I feel relaxed. To me the Kora is like water, it's cleansing, soothing, calming and tranquil.
I wish for anyone who read this to have a Blessed and Prosperous Life filled with those who make you Happy!!!

As a West African I’m glad people are starting to recognize and appreciate the music

I'm from Latinamerica, I'm not orignally from a native race such afro or indigineous though I'm so fall in love of every single music expression whose origins come from the ancient races, especially from Africa. The modern world, when its creativity collapses will always look back and recover the humanity in the ancient art.

Not W African, but a white American and have loved kora music, W African music and other African forms for many years. When I lived in NYC, you would hear the best kora players just playing on the platforms sometimes. I would let my train pass to stay and listen. Maybe not everyone knows that basically you could say that every original American musical form comes from this, or related forms from Africa.

African music is not only drums (nothing against drums). The kora is from the same massive region that produced a million manuscripts. Imagine what treasures there might be among them.
