Raised in the Djursholm district of Danderyd, Lo is an alumna of the music school Rytmus Musikergymnasiet. She formed the rock band Tremblebee in 2006. After it disbanded, Lo pursued a career in songwriting and earned a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music in 2011. Working with producers Alexander Kronlund, Max Martin and Xenomania, she became a successful songwriter, while also recording and releasing her own compositions independently.
In 2013, Lo was signed to Universal Music, Island and Polydor. The following year, Lo rose to prominence with her debut album, Queen of the Clouds. It spawned the sleeper hit single "Habits (Stay High)", which peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as "Talking Body". Her second album, Lady Wood, was released in October 2016 and debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200. Its lead single, "Cool Girl", became an international hit. Her follow-up records, Blue Lips (2017) and Sunshine Kitty (2019), also performed well, the latter spawning the song "Glad He's Gone", which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Music Video.
In addition to her solo work, Lo has co-written songs for other artists, including: Lorde's "Homemade Dynamite" (2017) and Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do" (2015), a song that garnered her Grammy Award and Golden Globe nominations. She has collaborated with many artists, such as Charli XCX, Flume, SG Lewis, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue and Coldplay, among others.
Are U Gonna Tell Her?

I wanna know what you're thinking
Hoping you're getting the hint
Getting more obvious with them
Who will be making the move?
Feels kinda weird when it's you and I
And I
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, malandra
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, me arranha
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, na manha
Our bodies tangled tight in the purple light
We're making love pass time, we look so damn good tonight
And Sunday's shining in, feel the shame coming
You don't belong to me
Are you gonna tell her?
Our bodies tangled tight in the purple light
We're making love faster, we look so damn good tonight
And Sunday's shining in, feel the shame coming
You don't belong to me
Are you gonna tell her?
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, malandra
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, me arranha
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, na manha
Our bodies tangled tight in the purple light
We're making love faster, we look so damn good tonight
And Sunday's shining in, feel the shame coming
You don't belong to me
Are you gonna tell her?
Our bodies tangled tight (tangled tight) in the purple light
We're making love faster, we look so damn good tonight
And Sunday's shining in, feel the shame coming (coming)
You don't belong to me (no, no)
Are you gonna tell her?
Ah, yeah
Are you gonna tell her?
Are you gonna tell her?
Que brisa, hein mano?
Are you gonna tell her?
Are you?
Are you gonna tell her?
In Tove Lo and Mc Zaac's song "Are U gonna tell her?", tension is building between the two singers as they share drinks and hope to make a move towards each other. As they become more obvious with their intentions, they are unsure of who should make the first move. The chorus features the repeating refrain "Our bodies tangled tight in the purple light / We're making love faster, we look so damn good tonight / And Sunday's shining in, feel the shame coming / You don't belong to me / Are you gonna tell her?" This suggests that they are engaged in a sexual encounter, but there is guilt and shame present as one of them is not supposed to be with the other due to one of them belonging to another person.
The lyrics of the song delve into the topic of infidelity and guilt, as the two singers engage in a secretive relationship that one of them is trying to hide from their partner. They feel the thrill of the moment and the passion between them, but are also aware of the consequences that may come from their actions. The chorus serves as a reminder of the risks they are taking, asking the question of whether they will confess their adultery to their partner or keep it a secret.
