Raised in the Djursholm district of Danderyd, Lo is an alumna of the music school Rytmus Musikergymnasiet. She formed the rock band Tremblebee in 2006. After it disbanded, Lo pursued a career in songwriting and earned a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music in 2011. Working with producers Alexander Kronlund, Max Martin and Xenomania, she became a successful songwriter, while also recording and releasing her own compositions independently.
In 2013, Lo was signed to Universal Music, Island and Polydor. The following year, Lo rose to prominence with her debut album, Queen of the Clouds. It spawned the sleeper hit single "Habits (Stay High)", which peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as "Talking Body". Her second album, Lady Wood, was released in October 2016 and debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200. Its lead single, "Cool Girl", became an international hit. Her follow-up records, Blue Lips (2017) and Sunshine Kitty (2019), also performed well, the latter spawning the song "Glad He's Gone", which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Music Video.
In addition to her solo work, Lo has co-written songs for other artists, including: Lorde's "Homemade Dynamite" (2017) and Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do" (2015), a song that garnered her Grammy Award and Golden Globe nominations. She has collaborated with many artists, such as Charli XCX, Flume, SG Lewis, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue and Coldplay, among others.
The Love

And I give what you give and we go even higher than we are strong
And the cracks and the walls covered up by the sheets we live underneath
All the sex, all the nights we stay up yeah we're stuck but we're more than free
Got the world in our hand like a land
Good enough to make the ocean look like it's a pond
Good enough to turn the valleys into mountain tops
And we live like legends now, know that would never die
Oh, we got love, we got love
Good enough to make the ocean look like it's a pond
Good enough to turn the valleys into mountain tops
And we live like legends now, know that would never die
Oh, we got love, we got love
I can feel that you feel what I feel and I feel it all in your hands
When we touch it's too much and you're making me move now you make me dance
Going body to body for good saying nobody gets it right
We don't plan, we don't care, got the fume and the flame, we don't let it die
Got the world in our hand like a land
Good enough to make the ocean look like it's a pond
Good enough to turn the valleys into mountain tops
And we live like legends now, know that would never die
Oh, we got love, we got love
Good enough to make the ocean look like it's a pond
Good enough to turn the valleys into mountain tops
And we live like legends now, know that would never die
Oh, we got love, we got love
Perfect like a picture
I know we are one in the same
Perfect like a picture even when they look through the grains
Good enough to make the ocean look like it's a pond
Good enough to turn the valleys into mountain tops
And we live like legends now, know that would never die
Oh, we got love, we got love
Good enough to make the ocean look like it's a pond
Good enough to turn the valleys into mountain tops
And we live like legends now, know that would never die
Oh, we got love, we got love
Tove Lo's song "Got Love" is an ode to the overwhelming and all-consuming feeling of love. The lyrics speak to the physical and emotional sensations that come with being in a deep and committed relationship. The opening lines about breathing into each other and feeling it to the bone suggest a sense of shared intimacy and an intense connection that goes beyond the surface level. The mention of cracks and walls being covered up by the sheets they live underneath could be interpreted as the couple's ability to overcome obstacles together and find comfort in each other's arms.
Throughout the song, Tove Lo describes the power of their love, which can make the world seem small and insignificant. Reference is made to "making the ocean look like it's a pond" and "turning valleys into mountain tops," conveying the idea that with this love anything is possible. Tove Lo's repetition of "we got love" emphasizes the strength and certainty of their bond. Furthermore, the lyrics portray a shared sense of adventure and spontaneity, where they "don't plan" or "care," but rather embrace the flames of passion.

I always knew I wanted to make something majestic visually for this but I couldn’t quite see it until my darlings #alaskafilmes came to me with the most incredible idea; a musical sci-fi love story set in the 70’s starring me and Annie 3000. So much passion and hard work went into creating this video, I’m so grateful for my beautiful team, Alaska’s and #iconaclast team for making it possible. ARE YOU READY TO CRY AND DANCE WITH ME?? ❤️🔥
