A new direction and this nasty groove
Gets me over in a funky way
[Chorus]
This time make it funky
Make it funky this time
Drop the bass and make it funky
I'm steady moving I want
This world to know,
Just what I'm doing,
I've got to take control
Made my mind to come back
Hard this time
Yo, Tracie
What
Tell 'em what's on your mind
[Chorus]
In Tracie Spencer's "This Time Make It Funky," the singer expresses her desire to change and move in a new direction, to a nasty groove that gets her moving in a funky way. She's made up her mind to take control and come back hard this time, and she wants the world to know what she's doing. The chorus underscores her desire to make it funky this time around, to drop the bass and infuse her music with the infectious energy of funk. Amidst all this, Tracie gives a shout-out to herself, telling her listeners to call her name and asking her to tell them what's on her mind.

Dope! The Rapper is LB, my old workout partner in LA. We use to do Gymnist type workouts together & he got me ready for the 1996 Olympic Trials for the 100m sprint. Although I didn't make it, I was in great shape. To this day Brotha Blake aka LB & I are great friend's. He's a good dude. One love from Brooklyn, NY. 🇵🇷

Tracie and EL-BEE melded so well together on this song. It would have been cool to see them collaborate again after this album came out but they never did. Tracie didn't record again until 1998 (the album she recorded wasn't released until 1999) and EL-BEE disappeared from the mainstream music biz not too long after this album. That sucks because both of them had so much potential.
