All of this was done without management or a record label, which showed the bands eagerness to be heard. “Looking back, I think it was pretty ballsy of us to live in an RV for 8 months, tour the country with virtually no money, no management, no record label, and play shows every night with the attitude like we were the biggest band in the world,” explains singer TJ Chopelas. It’s that kind of grassroots work ethic that has helped Track Fighter earn a significant national following. Their EP “Band Aids For Bullet Wounds”, produced by Beau Hill (Warrant, Ratt, Bob Dylan) has sold over 5,000 copies, including downloads from Itunes and Amazon.com, as well as physical CD’s sold at shows. Pretty impressive for a band that didn’t have an album in stores, or a major marketing campaign going on while on tour.
In June 2010, Track Fighter enlisted the help of Michael Rosen (Papa Roach, AFI, Joe Satriani, Smash Mouth) to produce their new record. The as yet untitled album will be finished in November, with a national release date scheduled for the first quarter of 2011. In the meantime, Track Fighter is gearing up for a winter full of regional touring and recording, before hitting the road again in early 2011 to tour the country.
In August 2010, Track Fighter was nominated for a SAMMIE for Best Alternative/ Rock Band, and a Sac Show’s Award for Best Rock band. The future continues to look bright for these self starters. 2011 could be their coming out party. Stay tuned.
What If
Track Fighter Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What if we gave into fear
Are we conscious of the decisions
That we are making here
What if it all was a lie
Every part of your life
Beliefs you hold inside
Fade into nothing
What if it all was a lie
Is this some game we are playing
Maybe I'm going insane
Looking over the edge again
Drifting further away
What if death was just the beginning
And those conspiracies were true
What if we knew how the story ends
Tell me, what would you do
What if it all was a lie
Every part of your life
Beliefs you hold inside
And the memories
Fade into nothing
What if it all was a lie
Is this some game we are playing
Maybe I'm going insane
Looking over the edge again
Drifting further away
Every part of your life
Beliefs you hold inside
And the memories
Fade into nothing
What if it all was a lie
Every part of your life
What if it all was a lie
Is this some game we are playing
Maybe I'm going insane
Looking over the edge again
What if it all was a lie
The lyrics of "What If" by Track Fighter explore existential themes of doubt, uncertainty and fear. The song raises thought-provoking questions about one's fundamental beliefs, memories, and the consequences of decisions made. In the first verse, the song poses the hypothetical question of what if there was no possibility of redemption, and if we succumbed to fear instead of confronting it. The song encourages the listener to re-evaluate the purpose and meaning of their lives, questioning if everything that they hold dear is simply a fabrication or something more profound.
The second verse takes on a more ominous tone, as the singer considers the possibility of a deception in his or her world, with beliefs and memories being rendered meaningless or false. The verse suggests a feeling of confusion, as one is grappling with the potential reality of lies and conspiracies within their life. In the chorus, the lyrics emphasize the possibility of everything being a lie and the consequence of losing one's identity and memories.
The song's lyrics suggest that the underlying uncertainty of life, the fear of what we don't know, and the human tendency to question the unknowns often drive us to ask ourselves difficult questions. By posing these questions, the song evokes feelings of consternation and introspection that may resonate with listeners.
