Leave Me Alone
Tracy Dawn Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You Fill My Head With Death And Dread
And Two Tablespoons Of Sugar
To Be On Your Side Would Be Suicide
For Its Clear You Are The Loser
I'm Learning To Laugh
At All Your Attacks
Get Off my Back
Why Can't You Just Leave Me Alone?
Just Leave Me Alone
Why Can't You Just Leave me Alone?
Just Leave Me Alone

God's Given Me Authority
So To You I'll Never Be Bound
You're Wasting Time On This Soul Of Mine
So Why Don't You Run along Now?
You're Deep In Dept, Your Fate Has Been Set
Sound Like A Threat?

Why Can't You Just Leave Me Alone?
Just Leave Me Alone

Why Can't You Leave Leave Me Alone?
Just Leave Me Alone

Overall Meaning

Tracy Dawn’s “Leave Me Alone” is a strong message against an abusive person who tries to manipulate and control the singer. There is an apparent shift in power dynamics between two individuals, one trying to exercise their authority by pushing their opinions and judgments onto the other. However, the singer comes out victorious and dismisses the advances of the other party, stating that being on their side would lead to an ultimate downfall. The lyrics “you fill my head with death and dread, and two tablespoons of sugar” indicates that the antagonist uses their charm and manipulative skills to attack the singer, knowing that they hold power and control over their state of mind.

Furthermore, the lyric “I’m learning to laugh, at all your attacks, get off my back” establishes that the singer has had enough of the other party’s repeated attempts to control them. Despite the other person being deep in debt and their fate already being set, the singer doesn’t let their guard down and recognizes the threat that they pose. Towards the end, the singer reasserts their power, stating that God has given them authority and that they refuse to be held back by the oppressive actions of the other person.
