Fronted by record producer/ex-Evanescence co-writer and keyboard player David Hodges, and featuring Steven McMorran on bass and Mark Colbert on drums, Trading Yesterday's ambient, textured sound was showcased on the 'Stealth' soundtrack in 2005 through their song 'One Day.'
Trading Yesterday's début album, 'The Beauty & The Tragedy,' underwent a second printing due to popular demand. They broke away from Epic Records after the company continually delayed release of their second album 'More Than This', which was supposedly shelved permanently but was leaked to the internet by an unknown source in December 2006.
As of 2011, however, David Hodges confirmed that he is currently in the process of remastering various tracks from More Than This, and plans to finally release the album for sale to the general public some time in 2011.

Fall into your sunlight.
The future's open wide, beyond believing.
To know why, hope dies.
Losing what was found, a world so hollow.
Suspended in a compromise, yeah.
The silence of this sound, is soon to follow.
Somehow, sundown.
And finding answers.
Is forgetting all of the questions we called home.
Passing the graves of the unknown.
As reason clouds my eyes, with splendor fading.
Illusions of the sunlight.
And a reflection of a lie, will keep me waiting.
With love gone, for so long.
And this day's ending.
Is the proof of time killing, all the faith I know.
Knowing that faith, is all I hold.
(And I've lost who I am, and I can't understand.
Why my heart is so broken, rejecting your love
Without, love gone wrong, lifeless words carry on.
But I know, all I know, is that the end's beginning.
Who I am from the start, take me home to my heart.
Let me go and I will run, I will not be silent.
All this time spent in vain, wasted years, wasted gain.
All is lost, hope remains, and this war's not over.
There's a light, there's the sun, taking all shattered ones.
To the place we belong, and his love will conquer all.) [x2]
Yesterday I died, tomorrow's bleeding.
Fall into your sunlight.
The first verse of this song describes a state of despair and loss, with the lyrics "Yesterday I died, tomorrow's bleeding" suggesting that every day brings new pain and suffering. The singer is falling into someone's sunlight, perhaps clinging onto a glimmer of hope or positivity, but the future still feels uncertain and hard to believe in. The lyrics "losing what was found, a world so hollow, suspended in a compromise" hint at a feeling of disillusionment, like the things the singer once cherished have lost their value or meaning. The second stanza talks about the struggle to find answers amidst confusion and doubt; the "graves of the unknown" are a metaphor for the many mysteries and uncertainties of life that can't be easily explained. Despite this, the singer is holding onto their faith, although it's being tested by the passing of time and the illusions that come with it.
The chorus of the song changes the tune slightly. It becomes more emotional, lamenting "losing who I am" and the pain of rejecting someone's love. The chorus is also about the singer's longing to return to the beginning - "Who I am from the start, take me home to my heart" - and the hope that there is still time to find love and conquer the difficult times. In the final verse, the concept of time plays a big role, with the singer reflecting that every day is proof that time is killing their faith. The final line however leaves a sliver of hope and promise. All in all, the song is about the difficulties and uncertainties of life, but also about the power of hope, faith, and love in times of darkness.

When I lost who I am
I can understand on my heart were so broken

Take me home
To my heart
Let me go
I will run
I will not be silenced
All this time
Spending vain
Wasted year
Wasted gain
All this loss
Who remains
This war's not over
There's the light
There's the sun
Taking all shattered ones
To the place
We belong
His love will conquer all
