Where I'm going?
Where I'm going, soon
If anybody asked you
Where I'm going
Where I'm going soon
I'm goin' up yonder
I'm goin' up yonder
To be with my Lord
I'm goin' up yonder
I'm goin' up yonder
I'm goin' up yonder
To be with my Lord
I can take the pain
The heartaches they bring
The comfort in knowing
I'll soon be gone
As God gives me grace
I'll run this race
Until I see my Savior
Face to face
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
To be with my Lord oh oh
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin' up yonder
To be with my Lord
If anybody asked you
Where I'm going
Where I'm going soon
If anybody wants to know
If anybody asked you (anybody asked you)
Where I'm going (where I'm going)
Where I'm going (where I'm going)
Soon
Tell them to be
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
To be with my Lord oh oh
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin', I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin' up yonder
To be with my Lord
Yes I'm, yes I'm
Goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
Where the people are praying (goin' up yonder)
?
To be with my Lord oh oh
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
I'm goin' up yonder (goin' up yonder)
To be with my Lord
Tramaine Hawkins's song "Goin' Up Yonder" is a beautiful expression of the Christian belief in heaven and the afterlife. The singer of the song proclaims that they are going up to heaven soon, to be with their Lord. They can endure the pain and heartache of life because they have faith that they will soon be in a better place, with their Savior. The repetition of the phrase "I'm goin' up yonder" emphasizes the singer's certainty and anticipation of this future encounter with God.
The lyrics also suggest a sense of running a race, which is likely a reference to the Christian concept of the "race of faith." This concept suggests that living a faithful life is an ongoing journey or race, and that the goal is to keep running until the end of one's life, when they will be rewarded with eternal life in heaven. The singer suggests that they are continuing to run this race until they see their Savior "face to face" in heaven.

My granny passed away Thursday…she was 93. She used to sing this song all the time when I was a kid… she’s with the Lord now. You will forever be in my thoughts and heart granny.

I played this as my gmom was in the hospital struggling with cancer at 99. This song was a part of our worship and praise. She turned 100 on 7/28/2020. She left to see Jesus face to face on 9/5/2020. She ran her great race. I only pray to be half the women/gmom she was in my life.💯🙏🏽
