She first entered the Gospel scene in 1968, singing with The Edwin Hawkins Singers Choir's "Oh Happy Day." She, with her distinctive soprano and extensive vocal range, became better known as a featured soloist with then-husband Walter Hawkins' Love Center Choir.

While married to Bishop Walter Hawkins, the couple had two children a son, Walter "Jamie" Hawkins, Jr. and a daughter, Trystan Hawkins with one granddaughter, Jahve Hawkins and one grandson, Jamie Daniel Hawkins. Walter "Jamie" Hawkins, Jr. is married to Myiia "Sunny" Davis-Hawkins.

Tramaine has been inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame. Recently receiving the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award and netting two Stellar Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Traditional Female of the Year for her 2007 CD release I Never Lost My Praise (2007). She also sang at James Cleveland's funeral.

Hawkins lives outside of Sacramento, California with her husband, Tommy Richardson, Jr. of fifteen years and has one stepson, Demar Richardson with two step grandchildren.

I just made 40 years old on February 26, 2020. My life has been an escalator and a revolving door. Mentally broken, spiritually broken, heart broken, bruised, used, overwhelmed, tired, exhausted, angry, hurt, sad, but through it all I fake it. I totally agree. My brother Carl was in the studio with her when she recorded this with Rev. James Cleveland and the Los Angeles Gospel Messengers. He said the session was so great as they finished this song there was not a dry eye in the studio including the engineers, staff and those waiting to use studios next door. I will never forget how he said this was a difficult project for Tramaine as this was extremely important for her ministry. Thank God for this powerful message delivered as always Tramaine does, under His anointing.

We all face difficulties and seasons of struggle, and we often don't what to do, but because of the Lord's love, my eyes have seen many miracles, and when I wait and trust in him, he always comes through with a blessing for me. Although it has been a challenge, I am learning to walk by faith and not by sight!!!

I listened to this song in April of this year. I had three major decisions weighing on me. I was stressed and unsure. I remembered listening to this song as a child. In August, God showed me the answers I was seeking. In fact, He reminded me of a dream I had years ago. He had given me all I needed even before the problems arose. I then realized, there were signs in addition to the dream. I had ignored them because I wanted to figure it out myself. He definitely came through with a blessing for me!

2nd September 2023 I woke up from a dream where my car had been stolen while I was in church😥 i came out of church and saw that my car wasn't where I had parked it😱 I started walking around looking for it but knew that it was stolen because it wasn't where I had left it😡

I knew the interpretation of the dream was that the devil had stolen my ministry, and I asked God, "What can I do?" Then this song came to me. I haven't listened to this song for, probably, 6 or 7 years!

I heard this song for the first time in 1993. I was going through family issues , that's the song I would sing everyday, even though I did not know all the words, but it was enough to trust God for an answer. I saw an open door and I ran away from my marriage in 1995. I never saw him again, he is now deceased. God bless the writer of this song also the artist that sang it so beautifully with such passion and grace envelope in the anointing of the Holy Spirit as it comforts the hearts of many.
