The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

Gasoline
Trampled By Turtles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're prettiest when you laugh
If you go out in this cold, hard world
Make sure you come back alive
Your mind was built of matchsticks
And your heart was gasoline
In the morning when the smoke come risin'
Tomorrow's got nothing for me
Let the sun rise when it wants
I see the skies for day and night
I know it's my own damn fault
In the song "Gasoline" by Trampled by Turtles, the singer is reflecting on a relationship that has ended badly. The song opens with the line, "you said my heart was broken," which immediately sets the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is still reeling from the breakup and is struggling to come to terms with their emotions. The following line, "you're prettiest when you laugh," suggests that despite the pain of the separation, there is still a hint of admiration and fondness for the other person.
The chorus lyric "Your mind was built of matchsticks and your heart was gasoline" creates vivid imagery that underscores the volatile nature of the relationship. The singer's ex-partner had an intense and unpredictable nature that was both explosive and alluring. The verse "In the morning when the smoke comes risin', you're nowhere to be seen" indicates that the other person had a tendency to disappear and leave the singer alone to deal with the aftermath of their intense and passionate moments.
Finally, the lyrics "tomorrow's got nothing for me, let the sun rise when it wants" capture the feelings of hopelessness and despair that the singer is experiencing. The pain of the breakup is so intense that the singer no longer sees any value in looking forward to the future. They're stuck in the present, dealing with the aftermath of a relationship that has left them broken.
