The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

Methodism in Middle America
Trampled By Turtles Lyrics

It trembles like a voice
Hear the bells, they're calling
Calling, calling, calling
Be careful what you say
'Cause I remember everything
Climb the wall your way
The walls around are made of stone
The air chills me to the bone
When all at once they're singing
Singing, singing, singing
Be careful what you say
'Cause I remember everything
I'm the tree and your the leaf
And I remember everything
The Trampled by Turtles song "Methodism in Middle America" is an introspective and hauntingly beautiful ballad that tells a story of memory, loss, and longing. The song presents a vivid image of a house that is old, weathered and abandoned. The first line, "Houses like this we rejoin" suggests a sense of continuity and belonging to a place that is long-gone and forgotten.
The imagery in the song is evocative of a place that is steeped in history but has since been left behind, with the walls made of stone reminding the listener of a time long past. The wall that the singer has to climb seems to signify the difficulty of reaching the past and remaining there, while the call of the bells seems to be an invitation to stay and remember.
The refrain, "Be careful what you say, 'cause I remember everything" suggests a warning to the listener to be mindful of the things they say and do, as they will be remembered and possibly immortalized. The final lines, "I'm the tree and your the leaf, and I remember everything" hint at the transient nature of life and love, and how everything eventually fades away, but some memories remain forever etched in our minds.
