The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

Trouble
Trampled By Turtles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But you're so near
That I can hear you breathing
And it's all in your head
I spent today
Pretending I can't see you
And I can't decide
It's trouble
It's trouble
It's trouble
It's trouble
I'd be the one who knocks
While the rest
They come in through the window
They're enemies of mine
Enemies of mine
It's trouble
It's trouble
It's trouble
It's trouble
In "Trouble" by Trampled by Turtles, the singer seems to be in a state of turmoil, emotionally and perhaps physically as well. The first two lines set a scene that is both chilling and intimate - "It's cold enough to kill, but you're so near that I can hear you breathing." This creates a sense of tension and unease, while also highlighting the closeness of the two individuals in question. The following line, "And it's all in your head," hints at the singer's struggle to reconcile their internal feelings with the reality of the situation. The next two lines - "I spent today pretending I can't see you, and I can't decide" - continue this theme, implying that the singer is wrestling with conflicting emotions and unsure of what to do.
The chorus reinforces the theme of trouble, repeating the word four times in a row. The repeated phrase conveys a sense of unease and impending danger, but it's unclear exactly what is causing this trouble. The next verse adds a new element - the singer would be "the one who knocks" while others "come in through the window," making them "enemies of mine." This creates a sense of danger and confrontation, as if the singer is preparing for a fight.
Overall, "Trouble" is a song that explores the complexity of human emotion and the various ways that trouble can arise in our lives. The lyrics create a sense of unease and tension, painting a vivid picture of a situation that is fraught with danger and uncertainty.
