The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

Who's Calling?
Trampled By Turtles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Howl if you want to
Left his religion in a cave
Howl at the moon babe
Howl if you want to
Left his religion in a cave
Bill Dustard he has
All that we want is to be left alone
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Moan in your head babe
Moan if you want to
Lies that I've told I never meant to
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Who's calling?
Trampled by Turtles's song "Who's Calling?" is a blues-tinged ode to isolation and loneliness. The repetition of the lines "Howl at the moon babe, howl if you want to, left his religion in a cave" suggest that the singer is searching for something beyond the mundane rituals of daily life. The image of howling at the moon conjures up a sense of primal urgency and a desire to transcend the constraints of society.
The lines "Bill Dustard he has, with his nice happy family, all that we want is to be left alone" highlight the contrasting desires of the singer and society at large. Bill Dustard represents the status quo, someone who has achieved the American dream of a happy family and a stable life. The singer, on the other hand, yearns for something more, something that cannot be found in the trappings of a traditional life. The repeated question "Who's calling?" reinforces the theme of longing and searching for meaning.
The lines "Moan in your head babe, moan if you want to, lies that I've told I never meant to" convey a sense of guilt and a desire to confess. Perhaps the singer has kept secrets from those around them, leading them to feel even more isolated and misunderstood. Overall, "Who's Calling?" is a haunting meditation on the human need for connection and the struggle against conformity.
