The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

Wrong Way Street
Trampled By Turtles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Not a dollar to my name
My job got shipped off far away from home
And all the two-time bankers
All moan and complain
That's enough, they've got enough for two
With none left for me and you
Your backs breakin' every day
Ain't but a passing thought in their mind
And when you're done a-toiling
Sorry sir, you're on your own
You don't mind this and you don't mind that
You surely won't mind dying
And the years roll down
In this dusty town
It's been worn down hard
And run away
And there's a girl beside me
Lord, she's the one I love
But I can't buy no flowers or a ring
And her mama's nice and friendly
And her daddy wants me dead
That's the way things go these days
And that's the way they've been
And the years roll down
In this dusty town
It's been worn down hard
And run away
My restless hands are grabbing
For a time that's never there
Wishful thinking got me down so low
And of all my friends and lovers
I'm the only one left alive
It echoes through the halls and stairs
And looks me in the eye
And the years roll down
In this dusty town
It's been worn down hard
And run away
And the years roll down
In this dusty town
It's been worn down hard
And run away
The song "Wrong Way Street" by Trampled by Turtles describes the struggle of poverty and the life that follows, where people work hard every day, but they always end up struggling to make ends meet. The first verse talks about how the singer has no land or money because his job was taken away, and those who have more than enough don't care about those who don't have anything. The second verse talks about how hard-working people are taken for granted and often treated poorly. The song tells the story of the difficulty of love and how even that can be a struggle when you don't have anything to give. It also mentions how everyone the singer knows has died or left, and he is the only one left behind.
Overall, the song portrays a picture of poverty and struggle, where people work hard every day, but still can't seem to make ends meet. The singer is frustrated with society and the fact that the people who have more than enough don't care about those who are struggling. The song is a reflection of the struggles that many people face and the feeling of being trapped in a never-ending cycle of poverty.
