The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

High Water
Trampled by Turtles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I think it’s nice
To drive around till you’re blind
Young and old
Scared or bold
You’re what you want with your time
Well I, I’m sorry too
Right or wrong
Which side I’m on
The earth won’t ever let it slide
Lonesome man
He’s got a plan
To end it all before his time
I wanna go sorry
Well I, I’m sorry too.
The lyrics of Trampled By Turtles's "High Water" reflect the transience and fleeting nature of human existence, and the inevitable struggle to find purpose and meaning in our lives. The first line, "It survives, I think it's nice," sets the tone for the song, highlighting the resiliency of life and the world around us. The next line, "To drive around till you're blind," suggests a sense of aimlessness, as if the singer is searching for something without knowing what it is.
The following lines, "Young and old, scared or bold, you're what you want with your time," emphasize the importance of individual choice and agency, regardless of one's age, fears, or courage. The chorus, "I wanna go sorry, well I, I'm sorry too," could be interpreted as a confession of regret or an acknowledgement that life is full of missed opportunities and mistakes.
The second verse continues with the theme of existential uncertainty, with the line "Right or wrong, which side I'm on, the earth won't ever let it slide." This could be interpreted as a reference to the universal balance of karma or the idea that our actions have consequences that cannot be escaped. The final lines of the song, "Lonesome man, he's got a plan to end it all before his time," suggest a darker interpretation, hinting that some people struggle so much to find meaning in their lives that they may be driven to take drastic measures to end their pain.
