The band has performed at many national festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Summerfest, Bumbershoot, and Pickathon. In 2011, they performed at several large folk festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and 2011 ROMP roots and branches. They are scheduled to play the Sasquatch Festival, Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza in 2012.
2014 saw the release of Trampled by Turtles's seventh studio album, Wild Animals, on July 15th. The band tapped Alan Sparhawk, from the band Low, to produce Wild Animals. Sparhawk's influence is evident in the band's seemingly more alternative, high lonesome sound. The night of Wild Animals' release, TBT made their second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. On August 16th, Trampled by Turtles headlined a sold out show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.

Valley
Trampled by Turtles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You jumped right in
Swallowed the whole damn package
See you later friend
It's alright to remember
What you should of said
With all them angels dying
In your cloudy head
There's peace in the Valley
Just give it some time
And you do all you can
But you're just a man
So you walk away.
There's no use in fighting
You just lose your breath
She covered her weary eyes
Gently wished for death
There's peace in the Valley
Just give it some time
And you do all you can
With your two good hands
Then you walk away
It's all dust and memories
I realized today
But its all we'll carry
As time slips away
There's peace in the Valley
Just give it some time
And I do all I can
To try and understand
Before its over and done
The song "Valley" by Trampled by Turtles is a poignant and contemplative piece that touches on themes of loss, acceptance, and grief. The first verse paints a picture of someone near a river or a body of water, who jumped in and took in everything, only to realize that it was a mistake. The lyrics suggest that though it's natural to struggle with regrets and unresolved feelings, it's important to acknowledge them and take steps to get closure, especially when it comes to dealing with the loss of loved ones. The line "with all them angels dying in your cloudy head" suggests that the person they are addressing is haunted by ghosts of the past and unable to move forward.
The chorus, "There's peace in the Valley, just give it some time, and you do all you can, but you're just a man, so you walk away," is a reminder that healing is a slow process, and that we are all human and capable of making mistakes. Sometimes it's necessary to accept defeat and let time work its magic. The second verse describes someone who is tired of fighting and just wishes for everything to end. The songwriter acknowledges that there is no use in fighting, because it only leads to exhaustion.
The final verse reflects on the transience of life and the impermanence of everything we hold dear. Despite the difficulties and the memories that haunt us, we carry on because it's all we can do. The last line, "before it's over and done," suggests that we should make the most of the time we have and try to make peace with our past.

She covered her weary eyes
She tried to hide her exhaustion
Gently wished for death
Had thoughts of wanting to pass away
With your two good hands
With your skills and abilities
It's all dust and memories
All that remains are memories and relics
I realized today
I came to a realization
But its all we'll carry
These memories are what we will take with us
As time slips away
As the days pass and time moves on
And I do all I can
I try my best to comprehend
To try and understand
To seek explanations and meanings
Before its over and done
Before everything is finished and complete
