Surrender
Tranquility Base Lyrics

Hammill Peter
Fireships
Incomplete Surrender
Sweetheart, I want to hold back nothing,
Sweetheart, I want to give my all.

Roll on the feminine side,
The lion lies down with the lamb.
Beneath the male surface,
The chaos merchant, we′re all half-human:
Understand only love's not blind,
Only love surrenders up the heart.

The woman′s heavy with the future,
With intuition unalloyed;
Behind the smirk of the macho man
Is the quivering lip of the little boy.
Put it all in place, I can almost taste it,
So I surrender up my heart.

I want nothing more than to be
One for once, to feel you one with me;
No finer mystery, no mystery when we start
To surrender up our hearts.

Sweetheart,
I want nothing more than to be
One for once, to feel you one with me;
There's no mystery, no mystery when we start
To surrender up our hearts.

Where's the bridge to take us
Across the sexual divide?
What arc of heaven makes us complete,
Makes the planets clash and the stars collide?
With emotions bare we were both alive
For a second there
And we both surrendered up our hearts.

Sweetheart, I want to hold back nothing,
Sweetheart, I want to give my all

And we both surrendered,
Incomplete surrender...

Overall Meaning

The song "Surrender" by Transquility Base, featuring Hammill Peter on vocals and lyrics, is a deeply introspective and philosophical piece about surrendering to love and the complexities of gender roles in relationships. The song opens with a declaration of the singer's desire to hold nothing back and to give their all to their beloved. The following lines make reference to the power dynamics between genders, both within ourselves and in society, with the singer imploring us to "roll on the feminine side" and to understand that "only love's not blind" and "only love surrenders up the heart."

The lyrics continue to explore the differences between men and women, suggesting that while women may be "heavy with the future" and possess "intuition unalloyed," men hide behind facades of toughness and bravado, masking their own vulnerabilities and fears. The singer acknowledges that surrendering to love is not always easy, but that it is necessary to truly connect with another person. The chorus repeats the sentiment that the singer wants nothing more than to feel united with their beloved, to "surrender up our hearts" together.

The final verse asks a poignant question about the "bridge" between the sexes, and what it takes to truly unite two people. The answer may lie in the act of surrender, even if it is incomplete, because in that moment of vulnerability, both parties are able to truly connect and surrender their hearts to each other.

Aly and fila are the only producers these days who come close to the retro Anjuna melodies. This is one of the best ever Anjuna tracks

James Rushe Because music evolves according to the consumer, old and current a&b are both fantastic

James Rushe because the new generation of fans (and by fans i mean dumbasses who just listen to Sun & Moon) dont like long euphoric, uplifting tracks like this. they just want 50 sec of a build up and some big room drop. Trance like this has gone so underground its sad. And now they're trying to implement this new "Trance 2.0" or whatever and it's nothing compared to they're old work. Just for the money now.

Hot take: what if they also just got tired of making that style? Behind every track an artist has put out, there's probably dozens of similar drafts they made; add it all up and you start to feel like you've made the same track hundreds of times, and maybe you feel like switching things up. Even if you look at someone like Giuseppe Ottaviani or Solarstone, it's not always entirely accurate to say that their songs now sound like the trance scene did however many years ago, even if it's kept more of those flavors.

Or look at, say, Axwell /\ Ingrosso (not trance but similar idea)...so many fans have asked for the progressive versions of More Than You Know and Dreamer that it sounds like they could make a fair amount of cash from those. Same with Steve Angello, with his bajillion unreleased IDs, like Sentido etc. Yet these tracks haven't been released, so I would guess that something else is at play here; maybe they just open up the project files and don't get as excited as they used to, for whatever reason.

Plus it seems like when more is made of a certain style (see: trance 2.0), everyone gets fatigued. Like how Jason Ross tracks seemed to get higher praise around the time of Atlas/Frontier because they were a fresher sound, but now (even though I personally liked Higher Love, Many Days, etc.) Anjuna fans on Reddit or whatever are practically begging for him to either switch things up or stop releasing on Anjuna.

This tune is a classic Trance song. The way the notes rise like that and the chords in the background make this one of the most flow-inducing trance tracks ever made!
