The only Multiverse-ish thing about the Bayfilms is Sideways, knowing he’s a universe hopper stuck in an infinite loop where everytime he dies he moves to a different universe/reality. Anyways back to my point, in real world stuff, Bay would rather want people to see Robot kill Robot that Robot make peace treaty with Robot, Hence why Optimus brutally murdered Megatron rather than accepting his peace treaty in dark of the moon.

Optimus is latin for "one of the best, aristocrat, noble". Prime used as an adjective means "first in degree or rank; chief."
So together it means Noble Chief.
