Listen & Forgive

Like a rusted bike
In your backyard
And pull me from the debris
I'm covered up in dust and leaves.
We're lighting fires in July
To cleanse us of the heat
You beg, you plead,
You're just like everyone
You're just like everything
Smoke reaches for the stars
But settles for the glass
You tried your best to save your best for last
But now your time has passed
Now your time has passed
While living in your past.
We're lighting fires in July
To cleanse us of the heat
You beg, you plead,
You promise not to leave
You're just like everyone
You're just like everything
The only difference is
You listen and forgive.
Just take it all in
And I'll take it all back.
You only need to see
Fireworks once a year.
Just take it all in
And I'll take it all back.
Just take it all in
And I'll take it all back.
We're lighting fires in July
To cleanse us of the heat
You beg, you plead,
You promise not to leave
You're just like everyone
You're just like everything
We're lighting fires in July
Just take it all in
And I'll take it all back
The lyrics of Transit's song "Listen & Forgive" convey a sense of longing and disappointment in relationships. The imagery of finding oneself like a rusted bike in someone's backyard suggests a feeling of being forgotten or discarded. The plea to be pulled from the debris, covered in dust and leaves, symbolizes a desire to be rescued and given attention.
The line "We're lighting fires in July to cleanse us of the heat" can be interpreted metaphorically. It speaks to the need for catharsis and release from the intense emotions and conflicts that arise within relationships. The singer is seeking a way to alleviate the pressure and tension in their connection.
The repeated phrase "You're just like everyone, you're just like everything" reflects a sense of disillusionment and frustration. It suggests that the singer has encountered similar patterns in relationships repeatedly, leading to a sense of disappointment and a lack of faith. However, the closing line "The only difference is you listen and forgive" provides a glimmer of hope. It implies that the singer sees a potential for growth and healing in this particular relationship, where open communication and understanding can lead to forgiveness and reconciliation.
Overall, "Listen & Forgive" delves into the complexities of relationships, highlighting the desire for connection and understanding while navigating the disappointments and challenges that arise.

I love the vibe from this band. It's the next generation's answer to old Dashboard Confessional and New Found Glory. Also, if anyone remembers, Further Seems Forever.
