Photographic Memory
Transit Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
and I know you're good at keeping secrets
well I'm better at wearing them out for the world to see.
So take that old cracked photograph and tuck it away.
Well knowing you it takes most of the to get half of the truth.
I will tell you all about the last twenty something years
of heartache and deception, rock bottom and redemption.
Well knowing you I learned to write these words
long before I knew just what they meant.
and you can have a photographic memory it still won't bring it back
it still won't bring us back.
But if you can keep this to yourself.
I will tell you all about how we got left behind.
So take another picture for someone else to find.
The lyrics of Transit's song Photographic Memory are about secrets and the power of memory. The opening line, "I learned to say these words long before I knew what they meant," implies that the singer was taught to keep secrets from an early age, before truly understanding their significance. The next line, "and I know you're good at keeping secrets, well I'm better at wearing them out for the world to see," reveals that the singer is now an expert in exposing secrets. They may feel a sense of power in being able to reveal things that others try to keep hidden.
The chorus refers to a "photographic memory," which is the ability to remember events, people, and details with great accuracy. The singer implies that even if they and another person both have this ability, it cannot change the past or bring back what has been lost. The final lines, "So take another picture for someone else to find," suggest that memories are fleeting and ephemeral. The singer may be encouraging the listener to make new memories, rather than holding onto the past.

Love the way the bass is mixed in this one. Compliments the lead part and the loose, emotional nature of the song REALLY nicely. Great track
