You Can't Miss It
Transit Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've tried to keep my conscience light
But guilt and anxiety were sold to me
Guilt and anxiety keep me up at night
With the best of intentions
I can't forget how you took away the happiness from my life
Like all the city lights broke at the same time

You can't miss it
It's everywhere
You won't miss us
We are everywhere

And it seems I only have two speeds
Too much too soon or not enough
Too much too soon or not enough
With the best of intentions
I can't forget how you took away the happiness from my life
Like all the city lights broke at the same time

You can't miss it
It's everywhere
You won't miss us
We are everywhere

I'm nothing special really
I'm just a kid who tried too hard
And lost his heart in someone else's bed or car
I don't remember anymore

And you can't miss it
It's everywhere

You won't miss us
We are everywhere

Overall Meaning

The Transit song, "You Can't Miss It," speaks to the feeling of being constantly haunted by guilt and anxiety. The first verse states how the singer has made an effort to keep his conscience light, but that guilt and anxiety have been sold to him. The second line of the song is particularly poignant as it really sets the tone for the entire song; these emotions pervade every aspect of his life and they consume him to the point where they keep him up at night. The following lines express that no matter how well-intentioned he is, he can't forget how someone took away the happiness from his life.

The chorus of the song contains the titular phrase "You can't miss it" which serves as a reminder that guilt and anxiety are everywhere, and not something that can be easily avoided or ignored. The second half of the chorus "You won't miss us. We are everywhere" emphasizes the all-pervading nature of these negative emotions. The second verse of the song delves deeper into the singer's character and illuminates his tendency to operate only in the extremes. He's either trying too hard or not enough, and he can't find a way to strike a balance. The final lines of the song explicitly state that the singer is not special, but rather a kid who tried too hard to impress someone and subsequently lost his heart in the process, unable to remember what led him to this point.

Best album Rise has released ever.

Agreed. anyone whose getting into Transit for the first time should definitely start with Keep This To Yourself. That album is amazing. Idk what happened since but this album just feels to have so much less weight to it, the rawness of KTTY is gone I feel.

11 years later, listen & forgive took over I'd say.
