Carolina
Transition Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Open up my eyes
So I can see that there is more out there
Than you and me
I know there's something better.
But still this idea is stuck inside my head
I can see your cheeks start turning red
As I walk by.
And it's too bad
That I regret the day I left.

A place called Carolina it's where,
We run to forget all our problems.
Let's go to Carolina without,
A perfect reason just as long as
We don't go home.

Breathe in, breathe out
So I can suffocate
These feelings that will never go away.
Open up my eyes
Fill my head with lies
So I can live without you.

And it's too bad
That I regret the day I left.

A place called Carolina it's where,
We run to forget all our problems.
Let's go to Carolina without,
A perfect reason just as long as
We don't go home.

Storm moves in and washes away
The days we had soon were forgotten
Until we go...

A place called Carolina it's where,
We run to forget all our problems.
Let's go to Carolina without,
A perfect reason just as long as
We don't go home.

A place called Carolina it's where,
We run to forget all our problems.
Let's go to Carolina without,
A perfect reason just as long as
We don't go home.

We don't go, we don't go home...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Transition's song "Carolina" tell a story of wanting to escape from reality and find solace in a place called Carolina. The opening line "Open up my eyes, so I can see that there is more out there than you and me," sets the tone for a longing to escape the current situation. The lyrics suggest that the singer is stuck in a rut with someone, and they need to find something better. The line "I know there's something better, but still this idea is stuck inside my head" shows how the idea of Carolina is consuming the singer's mind.

The chorus emphasizes the idea of running away to Carolina, even without a good reason. It becomes a place where problems can be forgotten, and where the singer can escape from reality for a while. The bridge suggests that the singer is trying to forget about someone, "Fill my head with lies so I can live without you." But even though they're trying to forget about this person, they still regret having left them.

The song is a mix of emotional depth and a desire to escape, which can be relatable for many people. Carolina represents a possibility to leave behind a difficult situation and to find a temporary refuge. It's a song about longing, regret, and the need to break free.

I was on a program with these guys in Baltimore Md. These guys came all that way and there was another group with us too. The venue didn't have enough money to pay everyone, the other group wound up their cords and put their instruments away. These guys said they were there now and they were still going to give God the praise! And they sang!!!!! I gained so much respect for them and will forever be blessed by their music, it's coming out of true Love for the Lord!
