Sex Kick
Transvision Vamp Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey!
I was lying on the floor just looking at Jim
Had his finger on the trigger of a 99 twin
Says "One squeeze from you babe that's the game,
One squeeze from me babe you're blown away"
Hey! Hey! - Hey! Hey!
"Now James, no way, I ain't playing that game,
I know what you're thinking - Sex Kick,
I know waht you're wanting - Sex Kick,"
And he says "Hey! Hey! - Hey! Hey! now honey
I could move you, take your world away,
Screw you in, to being my babe,
Into being my babe, into being my babe."
"Oh Jim, ah Jim, no Jim, no Jim...
You don't have to be rough to turn me on,
Tough to be my man, I'm looking for something
Extra fine, yeah, something for my mind,"
"Thank you"
I know what you're thinking - Sex Kick
I know waht you're wanting - Sex Kick
Hey! Hey! - Hey! Hey!
You don't have to go crazy screwy-eyed
Just to get a reaction, you're losing your grip
Got no traction, so when you get up you
Just spin around and always wind up
Back on the ground
I got it you want it? I got it you want it?
I got it you want it? I got it you want it?

"Hey Jim where you going with that look in your eyes?"
I was lying on the floor just looking at Jim

Overall Meaning

The song "Sex Kick" by Transvision Vamp is known for its provocative lyrics that touch on the themes of power dynamics and dominance in relationships. The opening verse talks about the singer lying on the floor and looking at Jim, who has his finger on the trigger of a 99 twin. The verse then continues with Jim saying that one squeeze from the singer will lead to her being blown away. The singer, however, refuses to play that game and calls Jim out on his desire for a sex kick or power trip.

The chorus of the song repeats the lines "I know what you're thinking – sex kick, I know what you're wanting – sex kick" which highlights the singer's understanding of Jim's intentions. The second verse begins with the singer telling Jim that he doesn't need to be rough to turn her on, and she's looking for something "extra fine" for her mind. The song ends with Jim leaving, and the singer still lying on the floor, looking at him.

Overall, the lyrics of the song seem to suggest that the singer is not interested in being dominated by Jim and is looking for a more substantial relationship rather than a power trip. The song's upbeat music and catchy chorus, however, make it a standout track in Transvision Vamp's discography.

I like the way this was put together with total disregard for any sexual titillation and relied totally on the musical ability.

Wendy James was way ahead of her time..too sexy for the 80's ...she would have been the biggest act in the world today..such is life.

@stuartrawson5057

Brilliant song

@anthonyv1719

Had a business lunch with her 15 years ago in NYC where she was playing/ dj / and living there. Definitely one of my highlights - she pocked the spot - a French bistro.

@andreasbenning

Oh geez, all this footage, I'm out of my breath!!!
And Wendy isn't just a hand picked sex kitten to stad in front of a band, she's very intelligent and not afraid to speak her mind. I realized this when I found a vinyl record where she's being interviewed, very deep and thoughtful. Even if there's no music on it, it's one of my favourite records. Love her!!!!
