Shame
Trash Talk Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My seed will reach your young and like my sons, they too will die young.
I'd suffer anything, give anything and give everything.
I'd turn back the hands of time and commit the only crime worth remembering,
If i could turn our guilt to hate for just one day.
Instead we hung our heads in shame.
We hung our heads in shame
The song Shame by Trash Talk appears to touch on a universal theme of guilt and shame. The lyrics suggest that the victims of some faceless crime will suffer in a faithless time. The singer then asserts that his seed will reach the young, and like his sons, they too will die young. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for the cycle of violence and destruction that is perpetuated from generation to generation. It's a theme that has been echoed in various forms of art over the years, from films and books to songs and poetry.
As the song continues, the singer expresses a willingness to suffer anything, give anything, and give everything. He wishes to turn back the hands of time and commit the only crime worth remembering - one that would turn their guilt to hate, just for one day. However, instead of doing that, they hung their heads in shame. The lyrics thus evoke a feeling of helplessness or a desire to do something about the situation, but without the means or the courage to follow through.
Overall, Shame is a powerful song that speaks to the human experience of guilt and shame. Its lyrics are open to interpretation, but they certainly pack an emotional punch. From the reference to a faceless crime to the idea of planting seeds that will grow into violent offspring, the song is a haunting reflection of the dark side of human nature.
