Naked Truth
Trauma Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Locked up in the hermetic world
Of doctrines and rules
We're all the same
Equally overage and thoughtless
Equally frightened
Living in shame is the only choice
Wrapped in foil we hang in shop windows
The 'puppet master' leaves us on the edge of an abyss
None of us can change this
None of us can overcome this
We're just another number in the statistics
Like non humans deprived of feelings and dreams
[Solo: Mister]
Each day coded on a electronic chip
Our time expires
Our death coded on a electronic chip
We're dying!
The lyrics to Trauma's song Naked Truth seem to describe a world where people are imprisoned by their own beliefs and rules. They see life through "opaque windows" and are locked up in a "hermetic world of doctrines and rules". Despite the fact that everyone is equally "overage and thoughtless" and "equally frightened", they still laugh even though they want to cry. They are wrapped in foil and put on display like puppets in shop windows by the "puppet master", who leaves them on the edge of an abyss. In this world, there seems to be no escape, as they are all just "another number in the statistics", deprived of feelings and dreams, and their time is numbered by an electronic chip.
The lyrics, therefore, seem to convey a sense of hopelessness or despair, as people are locked up in their own beliefs and rules, unable to break free from the cycle. The line "we're dying!" seems to suggest that they are trapped in a cycle of death and rebirth, unable to escape the inevitable. However, the lyrics might also be interpreted as a critique of the current state of society, where people are often trapped by social norms and expectations and are unable to break free.
