Apogee / Perigee
Traverser Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
the color changed my mind about
this place where we reside is like the way
in dreams when stars collide
you'll find that we are all alike
and all alone
as far as I can see
you and I
The way the red color changed my mind
Questioned, looked behind, and disconnected
We are all running blind and misdirected
I'll hold my fucking breath 'til you convince me otherwise
I might never have known why
The way the red, the color changed my mind
The way in dreams you'll find that we are all alike
If I must fill this hole, drowning, insignificant
One taste of the life infinite
will surely bring the will to guide me home
I might never have known why
I might never have known why
The opening lines of Traverser's Apogee/Perigee describe the transformative power of the color red in altering the singer's perspective. The color serves as a metaphor for a cognitive shift or epiphany that changes their understanding of the world around them. They suggest that this new way of seeing things is like the moment stars collide in a dream: awe-inspiring and paradigm-shifting. The singer reflects that in this state, they feel both connected to everyone and isolated from the world.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase, "The way the red, the color changed my mind," as if trying to make sense of what has happened. There is a sense of questioning and doubt, as the singer admits to feeling blind and misdirected. There is an urgency in the declaration, "I'll hold my fucking breath 'til you convince me otherwise," suggesting that they are not content to go back to their previous way of thinking. There is a sense that they have discovered something important, but they need more time to understand it fully.
The song ends on a note of ambiguity, as the singer admits that they may never fully understand why the color red had such a profound effect on them. There is a sense of yearning for something more, something infinite that will guide them home. They recognize that they are drowning and feel insignificant, but the promise of a taste of the "life infinite" is enough to give them hope. The song seems to suggest that the search for meaning and understanding is a never-ending journey, and that epiphanies like the one described in the opening lines are rare and precious.

The way the red,
Questioned, looked behind, and disconnected
the color changed my mind about
How I viewed this place we reside in
this place where we reside is like the way
In a dream where stars collide
in dreams when stars collide
We realize we are all similar
you'll find that we are all alike
And yet, we are also all alone
and all alone
as far as I can see
you and I
became what I believe
Together, we formed my belief
I'll hold my fucking breath 'til you convince me otherwise
I won't change my mind without a compelling reason
I might never have known why
Without the red color, I wouldn't have questioned my beliefs
If I must fill this hole, drowning, insignificant
If I have to overcome this struggle, feeling powerless
One taste of the life infinite
Experiencing something greater than myself
will surely bring the will to guide me home
Will give me the strength to find my way back
I might never have known why
Without this experience, I wouldn't have understood my purpose
