The band released their debut album, Good Feeling (1997), to moderate success where it debuted at number nine on the UK Albums Chart and was later awarded a silver certification from the BPI in January 2000. The band gained greater success with their second album, The Man Who (1999), which spent nine weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, totalling 134 weeks in the top 100 of the chart. In 2003, The Man Who was certified 9× platinum by the BPI, representing sales of over 2.68 million in the UK alone. Following this success, the band released their third effort, The Invisible Band (2001) album. The Invisible Band went on to match the success found with their previous album, where it debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and spent a total of four weeks at the top spot, fifteen weeks in the top ten, and a total of fifty-five weeks in the top 100 chart, as well as peaking at thirty-nine on the US Billboard 200 album chart, spending a duration of seven weeks in the Billboard 200 chart. A year following the release of The Invisible Band, the BPI awarded Travis with a 4× platinum certification for the album.
In recent years, the band's discography has included studio albums 12 Memories (2003), The Boy with No Name (2007), Ode to J. Smith (2008), Where You Stand (2013), Everything at Once (2016) and 10 Songs (2020). In 2004, the band released their first greatest hits album, Singles, which spent nineteen weeks in the top 100 of the UK albums chart. Travis have twice been awarded best band at the BRIT Awards and were awarded the NME Artist of the Year award at their 2000 ceremony, and in 2016 were honoured at the Scottish Music Awards for their outstanding contribution to music. The band are widely said by the media to have paved the way for other bands such as Keane and Coldplay to go on to achieve worldwide success throughout the 2000s, particularly with the success of The Man Who.
Craft Recordings celebrated the 20th anniversary of Travis' breakthrough year with two simultaneous releases: Live at Glastonbury '99, plus expanded editions of The Man Who – both of which were released on 21 June 2019.

I looked at the past inside my rearview mirror
There was nobody behind me and nothing up ahead
The sky was blue and all I knew
Was I would never feel the same again
I knew I'd never feel the same again
There was symmetry in motion, there was gossip in the class
And of all the time we wasted and all the time it took
And if I had more time then I wish you would
I really-really-really wish you would
But that's the part we never tried to stop
We never tried
Oh, no regret
Don't you forget this magnificent time
Seize the day
Don't throw away this magnificent time
I was somewhere in the city and my heart went boom
I packed all my troubles in a different room
And I thought of all the could have been, the roads we never took
And how the story ends and I understood
I really-really-really understood
But that's the part we never tried to stop
We never tried
Oh, no regret
Don't you forget this magnificent time
Seize the day
Don't throw away this magnificent time
No regret
Don't you forget this magnificent time
Seize the day
Don't throw away this magnificent time
Magnificent time
Magnificent time
Travis's song "Magnificent Time" paints a vivid picture of a nostalgic and reflective experience. The song describes a moment in time when the singer is in the city during the summer, filled with a sense of being alive in the moment. The lyrics convey the feeling of looking back at the past and trying to make sense of what was lost. The song's title suggests that the singer sees this moment as magnificent and something that should not be forgotten.
The lyrics provide a contrast between the present moment, where the singer's heart stands still, and the past that is reflected in the rearview mirror. The absence of anyone behind the singer and the open road ahead suggest that this is a moment of possibility, where anything could happen. The use of repetition in the chorus emphasizes the importance of seizing the day and not regretting the decisions made.
The verses describe the past with a sense of longing for what could have been. The singer feels a certain symmetry in motion and gossip in the class, describing moments of intimacy and connection with someone. However, the singer also recognizes that these moments were fleeting and that time was wasted. The lyrics express regret for not trying to stop the story from ending, but they also suggest an acceptance of what is lost and an understanding that this moment was still magnificent.
Overall, "Magnificent Time" is a song about nostalgia, lost love, and the importance of seizing the present moment. It conveys a wistful but ultimately optimistic view of life and the idea that every experience, even if it's fleeting, can be unforgettable.

Nunca probamos
Ooooh
Sin arrepentimiento, no lo olvides
Este magnífico tiempo
Aprovecha el día, no tire
Este magnífico tiempo
Sin arrepentimiento, no lo olvides
Este magnífico tiempo
Aprovecha el día, no tires
Este magnífico tiempo
