Promises
Travis Bretzer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To show you
That I can't
And I'm away
Cause' when you're down
And you'll keep around
You should know
There I'll be there
Keep, keep
My promises
Keep my promises truth
Keep my promises
Keep, keep
My promises
Keep my promises truth
What can I say
To take this blue
Clouds away
Day after day
Cause' when you're down
Down, down, down
And keep around
You should know
That I'll be there
To keep my promises
Keep keep my promises
Keep my promises truth
(To you)
Keep my promises
Keep, keep
My promises
Keep my promises truth
...
Keep my promises
Keep, keep
My promises
Keep my promises truth
(To you)
Keep my promises
Keep, keep
My promises
Keep my promises truth
(End)
In Travis Bretzer's song "Promises", the lyrics depict a desire to reassure someone who is down that they will be there to support and care for them. The repetition of "keep my promises" throughout the song serves as a reminder of the singer's commitment to this person in need. The lyrics also express a frustration with feeling powerless to lift this individual's spirits, as the line "what can I say to take this blue cloud away" suggests.
Additionally, the use of the word "truth" in the repeated phrase "keep my promises truth" emphasizes the singer's sincerity and honesty in their pledge to be supportive. The song seems to be about being there for someone even when it's hard, and the dedication to keeping one's word, especially when it comes to supporting another person emotionally.
Overall, "Promises" is a song about wanting to be a reliable presence in someone's life, to keep one's word, and to give comfort to those who are struggling.

HOW IS THIS NOT GOING VIRAL RIGHT NOW? Such an awesome, unique, fresh sound!
@coffeyeoin5
MenaSeesYou Because he's a Mac Demarco rip-off hack and his sound is so similar that Mac's originality is overshadowing this guy's copy-catting.
@DonutUnderpants
jeb tweebance The guitars and vocals sound similar, but the songs themselves are pretty different
@ExtremelyOnlineGuy
I'm surprised you haven't found out about macs old projects that this guy produced. As well as macs work with Alex Calder as homeshake and numerous other collars he's had with these guys all 3 sound similar dude. Take the sass elsewhere
@GlamifiedGoddess
+DonutUnderpants thank you!!!!
@richardattia2069
+Tohopka Hototo Tawa homeshake is not mac & alex. It's another person and his band entirely, although he was mac's touring guitarist for a little while

Too bad I didn't discover this guy until a month ago. Great sounds!
@ExtremelyOnlineGuy
Travis, Mac and Alex all developed the style they play together. That's why they all sound similar. They're even all from the same town. Chill the hell out man it's just music. Good music at that. Sheesh
